Too much time on DEI
COO former leaders turned the COO / CAO role into a giant handler for all the LOB heads. Basically, bend the knee for them, make them happy, and do whatever they ask. What a sh*t show it became.

Having worked at both the LOB level and the COO, I would never work in the COO again.
Too many self-important "leaders" that are terrible at their jobs so they ask for things too late, and/or don't plan properly which results in 💩 rolling downhill to your position.
Not saying this never happens at the LOB level, but it's worse in the COO, at least in my experience.
COO/enterprise jobs have more demands without more compensation.
COO is not one of the many WF departments I’m familiar with. What’s the drama?
COO is not a fun place to work. Nobody’s too happy there.
