Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Time for a Stratton Return?!

John is Chairman at Frontier right now and was passed over to be CEO. He had a lot of Ivan's personality traits but apparently had a hot temper. Verizon needs an inspirational leader with ideas and one that engages all employees in the company, not just senior leadership.

Stratton sounds like he was the type of A-Ho-e I would expect to find in upper management in many companies but who can't seem to figure out why no one likes them except for the people riding their coat tails. Maybe he has learned. You'd have to talk to the people at Frontier. But most people who've been around those types say thanks but no thanks. A selfish executive is not the key to long-term success, especially if they don't have a vision.

Stratton came to our store around 2002/2003 with his entourage for a “ visit “ I remember it because I found him unfriendly with him not even introducing himself to the frontline. He also berated the store manager in front of everyone because an interactive display was not working properly. The guy came across negatively during the visit. I was in the same room with the guy for maybe a half hour. No wonder he did so well at VZW!

I was a direct report of John Stratton at Verizon for three years. He’s an incredibly sharp, gifted executive. John is a no- bullsh-t leader who knows how to spot talent and drive execution. He appears to be doing an excellent job at Frontier and the market likes what he has accomplished: hiring A+ talent and executing on a straightforward differentiated strategy.

John’s problem at Verizon is that he did not know how to build a team and support them. He put knives in the backs of many of his loyal supporters including myself to advance his own career. I can never forgive John for that. He also had no clear vision for the future of Verizon supporting the id--tic video strategy because he thought that would get him the top job.

He appears to have learned from his mistakes with his leadership at Frontier, although I am not close enough to the situation.

Han’s had a clear vision for the future with 5G but could not execute on it. Denny Strigl created a culture of excellence and execution around one simple idea “the best network”. With that vision Verizon became the market leader in wireless Sadly that culture has been decimated under Hans.

I’m not sure if Verizon’s Board would ask John to return because that would be admitting a mistake but things are getting dire for the V-Team so who knows.

In the end I think Verizon would be a better place to work and better value for shareholders if he were in charge.

Only going to get washed up already failed losers to apply to this dumpster fire. Nobody with half a brain would touch it. Probably need to promote from within since that is where most of the candidates will be found.

Stratton joked around live on camera just after laying off hundreds. Not the right choice. He”s like Kenny Banya, riding the coattails of a strong network.

We need someone that actually cares... who actually wants to be in the UTILITY business. If senior leadership feels the need to tell me what "3 things to tell my family at the dinner table", they failed as leaders.

... and get out of the DEI/ESG nonsense. That will be a clear sign of future leaders... 5G is directional, which uses up to 90% less energy. 90% less... and meanwhile, Verizon is talking about green energy/climate change... complete stupidity - done for tax breaks.... we need GREEN TECHNOLOGY.

And DEI is TOXIC... just TOXIC. Where all are of these hateful people? You're not allowed to be hateful or discriminatory at work, so either, Verizon was previously breaking the law, OR it wasn't happening in a statistically meaningful way.

If Verizon does those two things and gets back to service quality-based marketing, no theatrics or politics, people will come and stay with Verizon... What is our "Can you hear me now?" for 2022/2023?

MIchael Capellas turned around MCI. Great man. We need someone like him to lead wireline and let the wireless junkies lead wireless.

Is there any answer that doesn't roll back to let us look at the past at Verizon? Good God. Form a search committee, and find someone worthwhile.

The only thing that JS was known for was the “Can you hear me now?” Commercial. The last thing Verizon needs is a wireless leader from its past. The only reason why Wireless was so successful was that Verizon invested in the Network to not pay Vodafone a dividend. If you want a proven leader who is going to shake things up, John Legere is available.

Not woke enough and too honest and accountable. We will go back to a true Ops review and Readout. But things got done.
