Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Don't expect stability because they don't have a clear direction

The reality is, layoffs here will never subside until a clear direction for the company is set. The C Suite simply does not have a plan to right the ship, so absent that, they continue to surplus and cut technology investment….that isn’t sustainable and spells disaster for all involved. You will continue to see assets sold off, direct employees outsourced and erosion of the brand. Wall Street has no confidence in T, while other technologies are well respected, want to know why ? Good leadership, clear communication of company growth plans and agile shift as a results of market based forces….we have none of that. One day, we’ll wake up and be called to an all hands call and the rest will sadly be history.

Everything I wanted to say was already said by someone at +1jUaVc3J. Unfortunately, that's how it is, without a vision and clear direction, cuts will be the only constant here.

I thought it was all about the purpose? You know that 1 thing. I missed that part of the townhall and asked the boss what the purpose was, he didn’t know. I guess for me it’s don’t drop the ball or let my fellow coworkers down. All I can do in my space. As far as company vision? Idk, I think fiber and mobility was the direction.

We were taught in business school any time a company has to lay off people the company's leadership has failed. Leadership has failed to predict and quickly adjust to market conditions, failed to predict their market share and customer base, failed to deliver what their customers truly want, failed to innovate...in short failed all around.
T has failed in all of these areas and more. T continually lays off people, continually reorganizes to take advantage of "synergies", continually hosts town halls at every level to brag how well the company is doing.... Does T sound like a healthy, prosperous company poised to have a great future?
There is no clear vision; hasn't been in many years. Does T even have a legitimate Business Plan?
Every reorg brings nothing new; it's always the same old half-witted nutless wonders beaming with enthusiasm and ensuring us there's no shortage of executives to lead us through these difficult times.

Stink has a clear direction:

  1. Fill the Stink's bank account.
  1. Make as many employees as miserable as possible.

3 Sell anything we have for a shiny nickel and keep the debt while pocketing a huge bonus!

  1. Host some more prevented Panama Parties!

Any other questions?

T is on a slow decline. Those with pensions will be happy to survive and get their pension. Everyone else, if you're sticking around that's on you. T needed good leadership when RS ran the place. We were at a pivotal moment in technology. RS made the wrong calls and now we'll pay the price for those decisions. Anyone gullible enough to believe we're on a positive trajectory must be smarter than the Analysts who research the industry on a daily basis.

Layoffs will be based to make payroll, not based on work load.

Good idea to surplus the unneeded workers. A communication company don't need too many workers.
