Public assistance that is anything but extremely short term has more detrimental effect on the recipient than whatever their initial issue was. Work brings a sense of purpose and self reliance that is unquestionably beneficial. There's nothing charitable about taking that from someone with other people's money.

I lost my spouse and had to raise my child alone. I then lost my job through a layoff. Never once did I need assistance. It only made me stronger, more resilient and more determined. I’m a better person for it.
@2osy Agree 100%. Understand those with disabilities. Just not keen about those working the system to get a free ride on my dime. They’re whining about reparations and apologies.

We can only attempt to control what is around us, being angry about all strangers doing less will just burn us out
People are passionate. Think about this. How many parents send their kids off to school without a full understanding of what’s being taught?
What’s wrong with work? Keeps many of us busy. Prolonged idleness is not healthy.
I’m a firm believer in self-reliance. Every time I see a YouTube video about someone bragging about their section 8 housing, my blood starts to boil. It took me many years to save up for a down payment on a home.
Finally, people have the option whether they want to work or not. Though, I’m not a big fan of subsidizing people just so they can sit around, watch TV, drink beer and get fat. Do it on their own dime.
People should take pride in self-reliance.

@1exa. The problem is that corporations run everything now and that’s why the average working man has a hard time with permanent housing, health care, employment, etc.
They want the 99% depending on them.

Public education has been exclusively controlled by statists (aka Ds), and it's been that way for many decades so if they are screwed up, you know exactly to blame. Anyway, it's true that the system isn't designed to teach children to think, they are taught to be drones, but it's not done to them for corporations benefit, that's just a coincidence. Children are turned into drones to facilitate government control and obedience to, and dependance on, The State.
If corporations ran schools, the kids would be drones, sure, but they'd also have the skills to be productive workers. Statists don't care about that, citizens being illiterate and obedient helps the DNC achieve their objectives.
@1jcl I’m just surprised that big foot and Sasquatch sightings weren’t up during the pandemic. It was at least six months before I was able to get a haircut. As all the salons and barbershops were closed. ;)

Seems like it’s just more comforting to blame others than look at ourselves, so that’s what happens.
@rgq+1jT6MRv8 I agree with this take, it irks me when people present generational behavior happening in a silo with a “back in my day” attitude. Like .. this is your day too, how about some compassion instead of projecting issues onto a whole generation.
@xpw I do see your point. Though, let’s look at it from another perspective. Look how the boomers were raised. Their parents were still suffering the ill effects of WWII.
That being said, when do we stop blaming our parents? And to that effect, when should our parents start taking responsibility if they don’t like the way their children turned out?
Not to get all biblical and everything, but we reap what we sow. I believe, thinking for ourselves is our best option.
It’s funny how the boomers raised this generation and now want to wash their hands of the responsibility for how the millennials act. They built this environment
