Would government let VZ T spin-off and consolidate copper into one non profit stand alone national org?

Wireless, LOL! So you make a supposedly wireless call, guess what? It hits a micro cell or tower then guess what? It goes wired (cooper or fiber ) to a central office switch and routed from there. Ever hear of ss7 signaling? Not going away anytime soon. Cooper is nearing end of tech usage but not today.
It’s like saying we are saving the environment by going to electric cars. Even though the battery materials are dug out of the ground, manufactured and charged with +95% fossil fuel. Then every 7 years it’s rinse and repeat for a new $ +15k battery replacement. I have 3 fossil fuel vehicles all over 20 years with near or over 300k miles had minimal maintenance and still running well.
Not opposed to new technology but we aren’t even close to using alternative fuels as a major source for the US or the World. I’m onboard when infrastructure and reliable alternative sources are in place. I’m not going to be the elites guinea pig on my dime while they jetset everywhere and own multiple homes and vehicles while screaming climate change.

@2qac….it takes a lot of wires to make wireless work.
Why are we even talking about this. Wireless is the future.
@1ofu….freeing up duct runs can pay dividends for future fiber expansion well beyond the cost of tools, trucks, & labor.
What is the price to pull out a cable to free up ducts between two manholes? How about the price to bore in a new duct between manholes while an empty cable or near empty cable is occupying a duct that can be used for something more profitable? Think about it.
VZ already sold off its cooper CenturyTel's - most of it.
Believe they sold off everything west of the Mississippi to Frontier other than the wireless. That worked out well for Frontier…..
“ Copper per pound is up in price. Maybe it’s time to start scrapping it and free up ducts.”
Exactly what is the per hour cost to remove a single cable from a single duct between 2 manholes? Please include the truck, tools, benefit costs along with the hourly wages in your response.

Non profit is a good way to describe a company like that.
T believes copper is the future….
It’s easier and cheaper to instruct your sales staff that those services are no longer available to new customers.
It’s a matter of time til the last copper u verse order is taken and that too will sunset. Then you’ll see C&E separate the overlay and remove copper as needed.
Who cares!!!
Why the he-l would anyone want a strictly copper telecom company ?! That’s the d-mbest thing I’ve ever heard since thinking buying Directv and time warner were a good idea. Randy , is that you ?!
