Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Will Verizon follow Elons lead?

Elon has officially ended telecommuting at Twitter. He mandated all employees return to the office immediately for no less than 40 hours per week. Any deviation to the new policy will need to be approved by Elon personally. Dont expect any! Elon does not appear to be playing, probably not a good idea to challenge Elon. Will Verizon follow his lead? Has telecommuting finally fallen out of favor with corporate america?

Production increased 21% for the year when we shifted to remote work in my workgroup.

When we went to 'open offices' I'd never seen so many employees outside to make personal calls, have a snack, work outside alone, and to just get away from all the fake collaboration (many are introverts you know). You could hear a pin drop as fewer showed up over time. Waste of millions. Lots of just aimlessly walking around all day trying to get some exercise or just gossiping. Great companies out there are offer fully remote and mean it - no issues with productivity (in fact it goes up as people are happier with more flexibility). Elon is a maniacal child.

Just because you don't have the self discipline to be productive when your managers aren't looking over your shoulder doesn't mean everyone needs a taskmaster whipping them through the work day.
Many people are more productive when working feom home.
We were told by our ED that they expect lower productivity in the office, and the occasional days in the office are primarily for f2f meetings, collaboration, and socialization with coworkers.
I'd rather stay home and get some work done.

“The dude complaining of "slackers" cleaning house or groceries on company time is a clown. People find ways to waste time regardless of being in the office or not. Taking walks to chit chat, smoke breaks, wandering around or browsing the internet. People do that sh-t all the time. If anything people are more productive not worrying about commuting or making it home before traffic gets bad or sun sets”

Pssssst. . .

Hello??? We all know people have & will continue to waste time at their work locations , take smoke breaks, etc. But all that & MORE is wasted working ifrom home. It’s not that hard of a concept to grasp.

Get back to the office you entitled whiner!

Telecommuting is rapidly falling out of favor with most of corporate america. They have had it with the cheaters. Some of these cats clean house, do laundry, cut the lawn, weed the flower beds, and go to the grocery, all on company time. It's time for everyone to return to the office full time.

In the union extension it explicitly states that WFH can be revoked at any time due to productivity.

Get back to the office and try to focus on how T-Mobile & the others are catching up. And stop with the lazy, entitled, whining. It’s very unprofessional hearing your barking dogs, children screaming & crying, blaring music or TV in the background, cooking meals & other sorts of distractions, etc. 2 1/2 year vacation is over. Just go back to work. You’ve done it before and you can do it again. Sheesh.

It seems that all Verizon employees are under fire now. They (Verizon) keep taking all the good stuff away. If they keep it up, we won't have anything except a handsome paycheck every two weeks!

Going to the office proves to be pointless as most calls are early morning with India or with people from all other hubs.

The only ones who don’t want telecommuting are those with an interest in corporate real estate
