Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

If you don't know how to do your job...

If you don't know how to do your job because no one thought to create training, is it ok to horse around all day until someone figures out how to train you?

(It better be...)

I've been working at this company for 9 years. The last three years has been crazy in so many ways. The ONE good thing is the training provided the last 2 years. However, if you are waiting around for someone personally to teach you how to learn about new technology or to show you how to do your job, instead of logging into the free training WF has provided, which is extensive, then you are part of the problem. Not everyone gets it, but it's there for you, and it's available for free, and has been used by thousands of employees, along with the free certifications exams for Google, and Microsoft provided by WF.

I've heard teammates complain about training for years, and yet three years after getting all the free training and certification exams paid for 100% by WF....they are now complaining about not getting help from others personally to understand the products/technology we're using.

I've seen technical people who claim to be doing work in public cloud, and can't even understand how to setup MFA on public cloud to login...meaning they never even logged into the public cloud after supposedly working on cloud for months. I used to have sympathy for people, but after seeing some of these people who slow walk learning/training, and create bogus jira stories claiming to do work....not anymore.

Then we have managers that don't know what employees do...and have actually laid off individuals that produced substantial work. craziness

It really sucks to get laid off this time of year, but if you have a good manager that knows what you do, and you actually produce, you're safe in most cases. If you are a coaster who hasn't produced anything meaningful, then you're likely to be gone before too long. Who's to blame, that's relevant to your position...but someone who doesn't produce will not be missed.

There is no point in training because everything will change in a month. I’ve never worked in an environment where we restart the restart of the start we restarted. I can’t keep up and no one else can either. And they change names of everything just to keep us in the dark.

Yes mess around! I’ve been with WF a short time, glad I came. No one knows which way is up and the changes are so constant NO ONE is on the same page. Often 2 people will email me with 2 different answers and I look at both and pick neither and move on with my day lol A CIRCUS

Here’s what I learned from my ex-wife. Why do the job yourself when you can get someone else to do it for you.

Well sometimes you have to figure sh!t out.

Problem is that is usually for contractors to have to do, not FTEs.

I happen to work in a unit who don’t know how to train either and then surprised when you have no idea how to do something.

Gotta love this failed Chase management team.

When the boss comes asking, I simply remind them that I've been asking for training but not really getting it.

I'll do a reasonable amount of research but the primary oneness of teaching me falls on the bank, not me.

You get out of something what you put into it. If I'm hired and given garbage training, guess what can reasonably be expected from me in return?

No, this sounds like a George Costanza episode.

What happens when the boss comes around and asks what you've been doing? At least ask around or shadow people, etc. Yes you might actually have to go I to the office

I spend my days trying to overcome the obstacles WF throws at me. When work does come my way and it’s something I know how to do, I do it. Life is short. If a company is too disorganized to keep their productive people, producing, then shame on them.
