Yes, as Legacy T management retiree, I get my landline for free, I just have to pay taxes @ $7.50 each month. I will never give it up voluntarily. It is one of the few retiree benefits remaining. I prefer having a landline. It allows me to have a single point of contact number and call forward this number to my cell when I leave home and don't give out my cell phone number at all with exception of a few family members or friends who know to only use the cell phone if not reachable via landline #.

Yes, I still have a land line. It stayed active in Hurricane Sandy while the cell towers were out. My family and neighbors used my phone to call their jobs, relatives, etc. It is an inexpensive connection, so I'll keep it.

I did up until about a year ago. AT&T doesn't have much reason to keep POTS going based on such low utilization. I loved having essentially a direct line to the CO because even in a power outage it still worked.

But the price was set to go up, and the service is looking to be sold off. I didn't use it enough to want to deal with a price increase and even worse service from some 3rd world provider. It was a nice piece of mind to have though.

I definitely still have my landline.... And will not give it up unless I move. At $1.19 per month (the over 30years service price where I only pay the taxes), and actual quality service just like we were accustomed to before everyone started thinking they could not exist unless they were in constant contact 24 hours a day why would I ever give it up?
Honestly, I know thousands of people and not one of them is so important that the world would crash and burn if everyone could not instantly get in touch with them.

I do have a cell phone to call the auto club or a wrecker if I get broke down away from home but do not like using it, landline is the only clear quality service, all the cellular companies services sound like cr@p, my landline is clear as a "Bell".
All my cellular calls have a lot of "I'm sorry,, what did you say?" and "hang on, let me move to try and get where I can hear you better." on both sides of the call.

Yep I still have mine with no plans to give it up. Where I live, it’s more reliable than a cell phone.

Yes, but I moved mine to Cricket. I heard their copper was laid years ago but performs better than ATT. This especially noticeable during rainy weather. When it was on ATT I would get some static.

Sorry, I could not resist :)

yes if you call voip a landline. In a dead zone for most carriers including T so pretty much is required unless you want to hang out an upstairs window and hope to get a signal.

Since ATT excludes cvoip from retirement discount - I switch to a land line. This is what is wrong with ATT.

Given that T's POTs utilization report was hovering around 14%, not long for this world. It will the next network decommissioning project.

Not here. Moved my landline # to another provider using VOIP in order to keep the same # I'd had "forever", so far so good. But may investigate moving from VOIP to a cellular provider in the future.

yes, but line static on an AT&T phone sounds like forced migration. As used to motivate dial-up to dsl. Concessions are on copper and I fear that when copper is gone, so goes our discounts. That would bring in more cash to the stink ho-e company.
