No first or second line manager ever got a stock option. They start at Director and above. We used to have the program where you could buy stock at a 15% discount. However, no stock options ever existed.

The new "improved" at&t is the old SBC as SBC bought at&t as they were going oob.
As a SBC 1st level & later 2nd level manager - I had thousands of stock options that expired worthless. Thousands. It was Ed's way of not giving us raises by giving us options that could not be exercised for 3 years.

I remember back in I believe 1999ish, I'm a new 1st line manager at SBC, all these 1st lines bragging about their huge stock option growth. guys (and gals) were buying new expensive cars with the options. I'm thinking man just next year I'll get that deal.
Turned out all the options I would get would be worthless, I'm thinking at the time, well, my new options will be really good with the stock price drop.
Needless to say they pulled options from 1st and 2nd lines shortly there after and my carrot was thrown in the s_h_i_t can.
I knew right then what the future held and became a taker rather than a giver!

Many years ago I received a wheelbarrow full of options at $95.00……stock plunged to $60 days after the award and never came back….lol

We should have received our full promised bonuses, not this trick. Upper mgt must have expected a drop in price. Someone else got a cash bonus for cheating employees. Now you know why craft does not trust mgt.
