Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Still being lured like fish

It has not stopped and I guess it won't. It is damn near every week now that some "team building" or worst case "volunteer" event arises on our calendar. Why don't they just say they want all of us in the office NOW. We never had so much going on as we do these days.

@Been here 20 years, haven't been to an event that wasn't paid-time yet.

I believe the point by OP is that workers should not have so many of these events placed on their plates. So it would have nothing to do with getting paid. I, too, am tired of them. I happen to be a bit too introverted for these gatherings. I treat my co workers with respect. I do the job I am asked to do. I also have no interest in moving up any ladders. So these events are needless forms of stress for me. Dare I say maybe for OP too?

That pretty much sums it up

Forced socializing is just a way for managers to claim in their self reviews that they foster camaraderie. Problem is that if you don’t go along you will be seen as “not a team player”. Or even as deliberately undermining your manager. So you have to decide if it’s worth your time.

WF is a revolving door. You don’t go to work to make friends there. You do your job and leave. A social life should be created and fostered, elsewhere.

Here’s a novel idea. Instead of RTO, how about RTS? Return to Starbucks. Yes, that’s right. Go to Starbucks, order my tasty beverage, plug-in, connect to Wi-Fi. Never thought some Starbucks would have comfy chairs and couches that would put my office chair to shame. Yep! We even have our team meetings at Starbucks.
Much better than going to the office and having to listen to people cough all winter long…

Events are so that people don't jump ship. Because we are also in RTO, it also does spice up the desire to come into the office. So there is that current double benefit, if it works? Even recent surveys show that workers want more time socializing. At least the 35 and younger voice that point.

I just read that people are calling into work, anonymously, and reporting that coworkers are going to work even though they have Covid. Memos are being sent out for those locations to stay home until they can determine who has Covid. Interesting way to prevent RTO from happening.

Regarding RTO, I wonder if I can get some kind of a doctors note stating that if I catch Covid, it could be life-threatening. I can’t think of anything worse than going to a cube farm and hanging out with a bunch of other cube jockeys. Especially those cube farms with low profile cubes, where You can’t help but make eye contact. OMG! I just know that I’ll get in trouble by HR for leering when in fact, I’m staring straight ahead and thinking about some complex process of my job, And not my colleague’s Raggedy Ann hair color…
Oh! Thanks for that comment from the cube clown who suggested I wear sunglasses at my desk so no one can Accuse me of leering.

Sol Gumby sent out another communication. Something about celebrating customer service week. I’m glad he’s happy celebrating while others are getting laid off, verbally beaten up by unhappy customers and forced to suffer through all the DEI propaganda.
