My manager keeps breathing down my neck whenever I'm at the office. He's making sure to check everything I'm doing and micromanages my every move. This is only on days we're both at the office. There's been no change to my work from home. Can somebody explain why this is happening? I'm thoroughly confused and quite a bit annoyed.

Managers are nothing more than failed developers. No management training and on one cares.
After joining this company, I soon realized that many team members are here just to make a buck, collect their weekly paycheck and perks. Also, you’re only required to stay in a position for one year before you can apply for another position in the company. You have an opportunity to increase your skills on the company is dime. The company is such a wreck, that I found my own little niche fixing things as I find them. Personally, I get great gratification when I find things wrong, and improve the processes.
That being said, you need to determine what you want to get accomplished in the company.
If you’ve been with the company for a long time and you get moved around quite a bit to Different supervisors, I would ask the specific supervisor what the situation is. Explain that you feel micromanaged. If you don’t get a satisfactory answer, ask to be rotated to another supervisor or displaced with a next severance. I can tell you from experience, that a micromanaging toxic supervisor will only dampen your morale. From my own experience, I have a thick skin, and I’ve been able to make my toxic managers lives h e l l… They always concede and move on, or leave the company. If everyone thinks you’re valuable, and the manager doesn’t, you will always win.

Apparently you have a inexperienced toxic manager. You need to figure out how to do your job, so well that others think you’re extremely invaluable and you need to team up with those who can help you gang up on the manager to manage them out of the company. I had a toxic micromanaging manager for two years. The individual was horrible and inexperienced. They finally left the company.
@jbh I did. He was never great but he wasn't like this before. I'm not sure what changed but it'd be nice to know.
Did you work in the office with this manager before? Maybe this is normal for him? Not to say that it sounds enjoyable though.
