Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Your employee data is not safe

Since moving to Workday, you need to know that it is extremely easy for various people in the bank to pull up your salary, social security number, etc. The team that used to police who could receive this data is now getting pushed out in favor of cheaper labor in India. Prepare to hear that your social was on a list sold by an unvetted short-time employee from India. It will happen.

They routinely sell info in India. Our laws do not apply to them and they have no problem making a buck off anything they can.

There was a case a few years ago at another bank of a lady threatening to put customer info on the net if she didn’t get paid right away.

Don’t let anyone fool you.

@dco Something you don’t realize is that one bad actor will be caught here and most likely serve time here. US laws cannot be enforced on a non-US citizen in another country and by the time there is a trail to follow, the US does NOTHING to follow it. In US fraud cases today, for our own customers, WF contacts the intermediary financial institution and when they say there is no money, they stop researching. Once that money is gone, we just give up. No referral to litigation or pulling in government agencies. It’s just over. So, the likelihood of many foreigners doing wrong with zero consequences is far greater than one bad US actor.

EVERYONE GET SOME LIFE LOCK NOW. 😂

If everyone's salary info were "public" info, it would only help employees, not hurt them.

Salary confidentiality is about helping the employer not have to pay equally for the same role.

Think about it. What harm would come to you if a coworker knew how much your salary is (and vice versa)? Frame it like this:

"If my coworkers knew my salary, the following bad thing would happen to me: __________."

There is no threat of harm to you if someone knows your salary, or if you know theirs. But if everyone knew everyone's salary, Wells would have an impossible time keeping up with (valid) inequality complaints.

If you're thinking that performance is why salaries are different, it's not. Salary increases are tiny at best. High performance is what your bonus is (supposed to be) for.

There are always exceptions in life, but transparency is usually best.

Don't fear transparency, seek it, embrace it.

I saw that a much younger coworker made nearly double what I do and I’ve been here for over 30 yrs without so much as a maternity leave, I was so committed to succeeding.

That’s when I gave notice and signed up to volunteer with kids and animals. Better investments of my time and energy.

I’m sure an increase in quiet quitting and actual quitting occurred when people saw their colleagues’ incomes in Workday.

I think the new Wokeday software is horrible compared to previous HR software. Did someone just wake up one morning and decide they wanted to create HR software?Though, I am glad that they finally fixed the app, until they break it again.

I was able to see all of my peers comp a few months back in error.

It was the most depressing moment of my career at WF. I make $30k less than one.

I really don’t trust outsourcing our most sensitive data teams outside of the country. Even those inside the country on visas concerns me. Historically speaking, I found it very interesting that hired Howard Hughes only hired Mormons to work for him. Elon Musk’s Chief financial guru is Mormon. Not stereotyping, but just saying…

Interestingly I had my data stolen a few months ago to open an online checking account at another bank. I had not thought of this, but very concerning to think that my employer could have been the source of the information leakage.

There are many Workday reports that have confidential data. Worker Roster Detail is just one….

To be specific, Team Member Insights, the team that guarded employee data, has had zero layoffs, but as of this week, 15 of the most experienced and ethical team members have been pushed out, backed into corners so they left involuntarily. That’s half the original team.

How do I pull up someone’s salary? This would keep me pretty busy today if I could look this up in people

This could be done by a bad actor in the US though too. I bet someone in the US is going to be a lot more disgruntled than those in India

Take it from someone in the know. Your data has never been secure.Data analysts in the bank often get approved for access to sensitive information.I pray that other team members with this access are as honest as I am. Our country is experiencing a decay of its moral fiber. We need to be vigilant about integrity. I applaud those other team members of the company who will go above and beyond to improve our current processes. It’s too bad the company culture does not reward those individuals for honesty and integrity.

100% agree. These Indians offshore getting paid peanuts are going to be the as-----s who sink the ship. Nothing is more valuable than sensitive data sets, one wrong actor gets a hold of this stuff and the company is done for.

WorkDay is full of security issues. Wells chose not to buy the security package they offer. Yes, tons of people have now seen what used to be confidential data - socials, salary, home address, even race and se-ual preference. Easily pulled and sold, for sure.
