Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

ECA role is untenable.

If it wasn’t bad enough that they just banded people together without the required skill, and rebranded all these folks as ECA’s (many were project managers without the technical skills), but then they spread them too thin, like not enough butter on toast.

And If that wasn’t enough, they forced certifications while still demanding consumption increases!

They the real clincher, management pushes down their responsibilities to the ECA to know performance details that needed to be continually documented and maintained, not because this will increase consumption, but because your manager has to answer a question to a manager, who in turn answers to, you know, another manager!

The situation is compounded because so many ECA’s have either left or moved to other areas in the company, which means that they keep adding workload to those who remain … keeping the same level of documentation. They have doubled the number of accounts to maintain in this way.

This is untenable. It is leave O or burn out!

I think a lot of people missed your sarcasm. I thought it was on point and funny.
"ECA role is untenable
None of this is actually a problem. Here's why.
Rebranding....."

Hard to be any more overtly sardonic that that post. The fact that most missed it is either a testament to how beaten down they are, or that anyone still at O is no longer firing on all cylinders.

ECA’s (many were project managers

Remember that "rebranding" like this is done when senior management is cutting jobs of "Managers". This rebranding probably saved their jobs.

“ you're only going to focus on the ones where deals can be financially engineered with customers anyway. ”

You have no idea!

Thank you to the designer of the changes. Some people might buy that story, but not the people asked to deliver. Look around, the rank and file are voting by walking.

ECA role is untenable

None of this is actually a problem. Here's why.

Rebranding

More important job titles make for more important jobs and higher employee self-esteem

Certifications

Add cred within Oracle to upgraded job titles and allow managers to check-the-box and feel better re: their own job satisfaction and self-esteem

Documentation and reporting

Several benefits to employees and Oracle with this one

  • Improves your multi-tasking and spreadsheet skills
  • Allows you to document all the work you do so that you can feel good about your own efforts. For example you can get a quick report of all the deals you have worked on and lost
  • And finally, it's part of "SALES AUTOMATION". This is 2022 after all. Duh. "Sales Automation" means we are automating lots of the sales effort, the result being your job gets easier!
Double the number of accounts

No worries, you're only going to focus on the ones where deals can be financially engineered with customers anyway. Actual competitive sales activities are not required since those deals cannot be won anyway. Bottom line on this point is it gives you more places to leverage audits and other convoluted mechanisms to find that rare possibility of $ that can be spun as an Oracle cloud "win".

We got rebranded in the division I work for as well. Total insanity and stupid.. It’s sad when the only word I am able to come up with is “stupid”. Shame on the foolish person who thought it was a great idea.

LEAVE for your own good.
Horrrible mgmt. Too many chiefs and not enough indians.
Not smart, Oracle is doomed.

Proof yet again that the Oracle Employee Doormat Principal is alive and well.

Talk is cheap. Are you really going to leave?
