Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Why did the new HR handbook take out the language about being able to report mangers hiring family members or other personal relationships?

Did that hit too close to home?

So I guess all the people perceiving that hiring buddies and family members isn’t great now aren’t forced to report it. Maybe it was making too much work in the current environment

Charlie did bring on Jamie's son or son-in-law, so that doesn't count.

“Promote or leverage people who have been around and know the company? Nah, bring in people who don't know jack sh*t about how things are.”

I was told about an exec who brought in one of their coworkers from their previous large back. Then that coworker brought in more. They are all still around WF. I’ve seen the same thing happen with Citi, B of A, and all the others.

It’s truly - It’s who you know and not what you know - on full display.

It’s to absolve the CEO from hiring old cronies and family members (in-law).

Reading comprehension is your friend. It doesn't say you can't; it removed the requirement to do so.

Probably b/c it isn't a hot topic anymore.

That aside, it seems like many of these new people showing up at pretty senior positions are all hires from where the leader worked before joining wells.

JPM, Kaiser, BofA (although I think we've had a revolving door with BofA for years).

Promote or leverage people who have been around and know the company? Nah, bring in people who don't know jack sh*t about how things are.

I am sick and tired of our director hiring friends and family to direct report roles. the most recent guy was a total clown. he finally quit to go live off grid or something.

you have to self-attest annually now to any relationships at work. probably just another tactic they can use to fire people with cause if they find out you didn't self-disclose one.

It just took out language that reporting perceived relationships was required, not that it can’t be reported. Which, frankly, good. Being able to report conflicts of interest = good. Weird requirement to report “perceptions”—no, thanks.

As a recent hire I had to report relationships as part of onboarding.

Is that due to the incident in Utah? The branch where every single team member belongs to the same family?
