Companies are starting to realize that other countries are just that, other countries. They don't have the same security or laws that the US has. They have their own laws and foreign policies. Sometimes those policies are in line with the US, sometimes they are not. Countries don't stay enemies forever, and they don't stay friends forever either. By moving supply chains and production to other countries, you are hoping those countries stay friendly to the US and don't get into wars with neighbors or align with non US friendly states.
We like to hire people in regions where the competition is modern day slavery to help our bottom line.

Companies have been onshoring their businesses for years due to rising prices in the developing world along with the fragility of supply lines. The problem is most of them are businesses that create tangible products, not businesses that blow smoke up your a-s while managing some data in a computer system for you.
If I were running a company, I would make it my policy to do the polar opposite of whatever Wells Fargo is doing. This, alone, should lead to great success.
