Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Dependent Verification Begins Sept 1

"Wells Fargo is proud to offer..." blah blah blah. Now we have to provide marriage and birth certificates. So social security numbers are no longer enough? Was this seriously a big problem?

Verification period extended now till end of month (10/31/22). But I had already jumped through hoops and spent about $120 to expedite getting a new copy since I had not though about it or touched it for 34 years (received it about an hour before the email notification of extension arrived). Worth it, I suppose.

@1yng+1iidlgve Fun fact! WF, like many companies its size, is self-insured. What that means is they are effectively the insurance company. They contract the administration to who we see as “the insurance company” but it’s all WF calling the shots.

@3ohv+1iidlgve Birth and marriage certificates are public records. Just about anyone can request them from the office of vital statistics in the town they took place in.

I had lost track of mine and moved across country. A visit to the township website, a few pieces of information on a form, a copy of current picture ID, $15 and about a week later and certified record copies were in my mailbox.

Get resourceful folks. Stop behaving like every request is a personal vendetta against you.

I don't object to verification, but I object to the methods this 3rd party is using. Have been with WF for 20 years and been married for 34 - so for 34 years we have filed jo--t taxes Federal and State; possibly that first time we had to provide some proof of having gotten married, but not once since then. I am sure we had a certificate at some point, but I am certain I did not have it handy 12 years ago when then last say they did this. And I can't find the damn thing. State of NY uses a 3rd party to produce a new one and averages 90 to 100 days to process. So letting me know in August was not enough time. Why can't I produce 2 items from column B? Feeling livid - am I the only id--t who is going to be in this position? Twelve years ago he had insurance through his then employer. FUMING.

i don't case about having to do it and have all the required information at hand, but given how many people we have as a company it may prove time consuming and difficult for people to track down these forms.

Been here a LONG time. Never been asked to do this before. How do I know our data is safe? Birth and marriage certs to a 3rd party vendor has me worried. Anyone else?

My spouse is from another country, and came here many years ago. And we've been married for decades.

We don't have any of that kind of paperwork. We never did. What are people like us supposed to do.....?

This is for the insurance company, not HR.

Wondering if the cost savings will be sufficient to break even with the fees paid to the third-party consultant to manage this process.

I know people with dependants that are not even related. There are fraudsters even in my friend's list especially those co-habiting and with kids from different relationships and all the kids need benefits.

Meh, it's not going to affect YOUR cost, but wf may get some firings or attrition.
I don't carry wf insurance, so I don't give two SHTS.

by-the-by, I have never had to do this in all the years I have been here, so it just adds to the suspicion. Maybe getting chased out of the mortgage business has something to do with it.

I don't mind this as long as it keeps costs down. I think costs have gone up each of the last three years. Especially for the over $100k crowd.

Once it's uploaded it's done probably forever.

HR Consultants making their money. Don't be surprised when medical insurance rates go up next year. In large corporations' volume drives pricing.

We more than likely have some team members taking advantage...

Also, anyone caught will be canned, so attrition (check) and benefits savings for the bank, (check).

SSN doesn't prove dependency... so there's that. I don't think this is completely unreasonable; inconvenient and strangely messaged, yes.

I never had to provide such docs before. I wonder what triggered this nonsense.

I work for a competitor and this was required for me to add my spouse and child. I guess it’s fairly common.
