Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Leap of faith

Hi everyone, I’m trying to move from Apps to Tech as an SE, and if successful I’ll move from IC3 to IC4. How can I get a proper salary pump with this move? and what should be my expectations for the new package?

unless your current salary way below IC4 minimum, which normally won't happen since the range is very big, you will get ZERO raise and more work, this is what they called horizontal promotion. Check with your manager first before accept the offer, ask for salary range on IC3 and IC4, they need to provide that information if you ask.

  • You will more than likely

Not get a pay hike for this. I would be willing to bet my entire sh---y 401k that you will not get a raise.

  • Even if you go in and are a total rockstar you will not get a raise.
  • And maybe you're so good you even move to IC5 in 2 years, you will not get a pay hike but you will definitely get more work and expectations. I know many who have gone to IC5 and gotten a ton more work with no raise. MANY as well with IC3 to IC4 etc no raises.
  • If you have been with the company a long time then you're getting extra screwed so you get the added bonus of knowing that college grad's who know nothing about Oracle makes more than you.

Bottomline I'm sorry to say is that you will not get any kind of meaningful raise from this.

“My current salary doesn’t mean much here”

Couldn’t disagree more. Any other IC3 - IC4 and then some would benefit from knowing your salary for obvious reasons.

I left oracle for a CSM role at another company. I’m doing a lot more but also being paid 50k more. Oracle treats their people bad.

“ only way you can get a salary raise is by finding a new job outside of O .
That would be the easy route for you . What is your current salary ?”

I don’t have the luxury of time now to find something else outside, so I’m trying to make use of what I have. My current salary doesn’t mean much here, and the package is bad anyway and I was supposed to discuss a raise prior to the layoff, now I’m trying just to live for the next year.

“ You want career advice on a layoff page?”

This is me trying to run for my life away from the layoffs. I’m in EMEA and most probably will lose my job when the wave hits. Thanks for understanding.
