Moved to a new role less than 6 months ago. Not being given enough work to keep me busy. I have looked through all the training materials and other relevant sites. Asked for more work repeatedly and told there is nothing to give other than a few things here and there. Not feeling confident in the security of the job. Thoughts?

Half my team is super busy and half (including me) have little to do. Been this way for close to a year. I have told my manager time and time again I have capacity to take on more and given nothing more. I have also reached out to my teammates numerous times and asked if they would like help. I gave up asking.

@1izo+1iWQeXpJ hopefully they will offer me a severance if they let me go. I complete any work given as soon as it is assigned. Once it is completed I have to actively find ways to stay busy by reading and researching what I feel may be relevant knowledge. I feel guilty about not having much to do…
Some managers have to keep you because of minimal subordinates requirements.
A well known corporate strategy if you run a team is to have a few people to offer-up when asked for people to lay-off. That way your team will basically not be impacted since you have people that are not contributing by design. Best strategy is to be ready to go when the layoff happens - or if you need income just start looking for something new...
You have been quietly fired. Time to take action and move on.
All that peace and quiet is fine for the first 2-3 months but you really should be busy now. I'd look for a new job and when you find one, have that "courageous conversation" with your new manager about the lack of work and your efforts to find some, leading to a conclusion that you'll be better off somewhere else.
It might pick up. Same happened to me. It was so quiet, and dead. I was reading training manuals all day. People told me enjoy the downtime.
Now I am literally drowning up to my eyeballs in work. Hang in there.
Not much you can do but wait it out.
Might as well enjoy the peace and quiet of having nothing to do while it lasts.
