Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Anyone in tech know

Anyone in tech know what type of employee surveillance we have going on? Is it simply monitoring RTO or do our systems have the capability to monitor what systems are being used and for how long?

They can tell how long an app has been open, if that app is actively being used or if it’s idle, the actions you perform in that app, what app you switch to next, the amount of time the machine is idle, how far your mouse moves, how long the mouse is idle, the quality of your connection - so they know if you’re really having VPN issues or not, etc.

Managers are getting badge reports and they are monitoring how much time people are spending in the applications used for work. They know that productivity is 50-60% and I expect layoffs will ramp up. Unlikely there will be write ups and so on. Answer will be to cut the fat and increase goals

@1hkb+1iRSqMM7 yes I have had it since before covid. Someone asked and I replied. The logged in 24 hours doesnt invalidate it.

@vhd+1iRSqMM7 The VPN report has been available on demand forever. People who stay logged in for the full 24 hours render them useless.

I was a team lead, not a manager title, and had to run these reports weekly when the manager was working through PIPs for two people pre-RTO.

The tableau reports show compliance at a highest leadership level and they can drill down. If you are a repeat offender just like stamp reporting you will be flagged. Minor or inconsistent non compliance will go unnoticed. Now these will be handy tools to use in justifying your CP&D assessments. I would just comply as much as possible. Our building used to track when you went out of the building as well as in now it guess it is in. I know other large companies are also checking VPN to see if you are in office or home. So other companies especially in manufacturing are way worse then WF. They have not put the hammer down and it seems like with agile not having normal hours makes it difficult to track attendance compliance

Not a manager but seen the report shared with me on a different team.It has your employee id, if you work remote Y/N, then # of days in office and # of pto days for the month.

Here’s a not so well kept secret. Us managers haven’t seen reporting in about 4 months. If anyone tells you differently, they are lying. The first round of reporting that came out in May was so flawed they had to back to the drawing board and revise, and it’s been crickets every since.

i have the url that goes to a report telling me every person on my team, when they logged into the vpn and how long they were logged in to. All directors have this url. I am not a manager or the director so I don't know what else they have but i do know they know your remote login activity, if they are interested.

You’d be naive to think everything isn’t being monitored if you work for one of the largest financial institutions in the world. If it’s Wells Fargo property, then it’s safe to assume they can and do monitor everything on the device. Now if and how they use that data is a different story.

In our group managers were getting weekly reports on RTO activity (badge swipe or log on at office) - but those reports stopped being distributed a couple of months ago...

@azd+1iRSqMM7 I worked at a mid sized insurance company that screen scraped very end point. It’s undetectable to the end user.

Word to the wise, don’t access any personal financial or health sites on the company network. If you’re checking your banking or care portals and being screen scraped its now in storage somewhere accessible by admins and reviewers.

That’s wild. What types of work get full screen recording? Seems like a lot of data

Depends on where you are and what you do. I've worked with and supported teams that varied from just basic enterprise monitoring (auditing installed software, files, etc) to full-time screen recording.

WF is monitoring your building badge activity and submitting the data to your supervisor. This is a fact. Not sure if every supervisor gets a report.
