Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

On the bright side…

Yes, that post title is sarcastic….if they RIF is coming the beginning of November, the PITAs should be done by next week so everything can be processed in time….so, really, there is nothing more to do but do your job to the best of your ability, realize you can’t change the assessment, and many of us will get the email invite to the meeting saying we were impacted. On one hand, the first phase of this horrible time is over…so get your ducks in a row, prepare for the worst, don’t just brush off your resume, if you don’t like your role or your boss, get out now before the market is flooded with others competing for the same jobs….then, if you get the invite to the meeting, you can say bye bye 👋, thanks, collect your severance and have your next chapter ready to go!

It’s a federal statue of worker advisory that has to be done 60 days before a layoff in a business of a certain size with a certain percentage that is going to be laid off.

What is WARN?

After the PITA, the WARN process will start on a date, based on the projected time of the RIF to make sure compliance is met. Part of the RIF process is the PITA, and then, working backwards from the projected date, the WARN process will begin

PITAs are separate from RIF notifications. PITAs can be due by a certain date, but notifications may not go out for several weeks or even months afterward. PITAs are a step in the process. HR will work with the business to make sure the right workforce is in place before doing notifications. That takes some time.

They have an idea, but no specifics, which is why they are going through the PITA and WARN process

They have an idea of how many/what areas they are trimming.

They don’t know yet, that is the point of the assessments being done

What area/job title will be impacted? I hate the waiting game. I wish they would give us more info/longer notice since we already know it’s a possibility. Why make us wait until November and have everyone nervous when they could give us some sort of update instead of vague TMO email.

How does the point in time assessment work when have been in the role less than 100 days?

Notices will come by November 2. It’s up to your leader if you have to work those 60 days. My market has allowed people to go early and not work their 69 days, but given how big this is supposed to be, I doubt that happens. Everyone impacted will have to work til the end of the year to get the work done, sone you have to stay to get your severance and bonus. Good luck all.
