"That's not the point. If you are on a team where there are concentrations of employees in a hub, but you are by yourself working in "Omaha", you have a very large target on your back."

Oh, I mean yeah I agree with that. But what I meant is entire teams that were colocated in places like Charlotte were laid off, so even if you are assigend to a hub and working in that hub, it doesn't really seem to have a bearing with this round of layoffs.

Our company is firmly under the thumb of politicians due to our regulatory issues. If they want people fired in certain states, Charles just asks "how many?".

Location strategy is a thing, sure, but a LOT of people are located where they are because of customer location. Unless the CEO can hub-ify all the customers, that will continue. Some roles are also distributed due to BCP. Turns out having all your eggs in one basket is a stupid idea. Shocking.

It is an easy step towards both headcount reduction and location strategy to cut the one off by himself/herself.

"From what I have heard, you are safer near a major hub, than being off in a non-hub location. At least for now."

Unfortunately, that's not true. I know of a ton of people that were in Charlotte that were laid off today.

This is only occurring in underperforming areas of Wells.

Bunch of engineers and business analysts in CLT laid off today. Work is being offshored as part of the overall plan to trim the tech budget by a LARGE amount this year. Writing has, sadly, been on the wall.

Congratulations to all those who collected a massive golden severance for decades of service.

Interesting. Decisions made on states with a high area differential or low Differential? For example, are those people getting cut in NYC or Omaha? Some states cost more to employ team members as opposed to others. To some, it might sound like a stupid question. My intention is to determine if we are safer in Omaha or NYC.

IT jobs lost today. Decision solely based on where they live. never heard anything so stupid in my career. This is senior management looking out for themselves and not for the company . I get the need for layoffs but how about performance based not the state you live in.

I believe you mean 60 days because of the WARN Act, and then severance based on years of service (2 weeks pay for every year).

Enjoy the moment! I shook hands with my boss when I got cut and thanked him. He didn't seem to know what I was doing. Very funny.
