Never have I been told to stay home because of extreme temperatures. Virtual desktops will end this. You will have to provide your own computer. If you don’t want to use your own or have one, it will be in the office for you. 5 days a week rain or shine.
And PS- we don’t give a single FU-K about empty offices. Turn them residential and help all the peasants you claim to support. Losers.
Literally zero people want to rush to an office any longer. It will NEVER make a comeback. Cry all you want but here we are, and yes, Covid uprooted and changed every single one of our lives and routines. Wells Fargo can adapt or continue to lug dead weight around until they have the ba--s to move forward.
I really think the government is asking large companies to push RTO. Many businesses suffered during the lock down but that's life. You adapt or move on. There once was a man that owned a horse and carriage business...

MPLS here - similar to PHX - dead of winter we are encouraged to stay home. Besides, even people who live here don’t really like -20 wind chills at the bus stop. Throw snow into the mix and commute times really get miserable.
Chainsaw stated in a townhall a year ago that productivity has increased during Covid lockdowns and WFH, yet here we are. Its obvious with RTO (less productive) and re-calibration, that the goal is still to get rid of us.

Newsflash - in PHX we already do this. When the temps are going to be flaming hottest, managers tell us to not come in because your tires are more likely to burst, car breakdown, etc.
Same for high pollution days (we’re in a valley so pollution settles in). Unless you have an EV, manager encourages you to stay home.
It’s a responsible reaction to temporary conditions. Blowing it up as a “lockdown” is just stupid.

As we learned during COVID WFH, companies can continue working just fine for many roles where you don't really have to be in the office. As good or better productivity, fewer miles driven and pollution/gas burned, less traffic, can enable companies to reduce space (again energy driven) and reduce their real estate expense which is typically one of the top expenses in most large companies. You think office space in San Francisco, NYC, Summit, Downtown MSP are cheap? No way.
And with many companies, like Wells, teams are spread all over the country and in some cases on different continents. If the productivity is there and work is getting done, working from home in many roles simply makes business sense.
