Is there a secret notes system for managers?

Do managers have a system where they keep secret notes about employees, and then other managers can see it those notes too potentially?

For example, what if my manager thinks I'm mentally slow? I'm not, but I can see why he/she thinks I would be. But would they put that in a secret note system?

There is no “notes system”. A while back HR had a few flags that they would throw on employees that reflected positively actually. It would flag them as emerging leaders or candidates for stretch/leadership assignments. I used to have one of these flags when I came to the company 15 years ago via a Leadership program, but I’m sure that has flag has fallen off. LOL

There must be. After all, individual contributors have a place to discuss managers - with sharpies inside stall #3

Yes, there is a system that managers use.

For official correspondence that goes in your employee file, it's the Employee Relations system.

For unofficial correspondence, it's called Outlook email.

lol -- we can't even get official systems to work well. What makes you think they'd create a secret notes system to talk sm--k about employees. No, what they'll do is just talk to each other or exchange emails.

If you think your manager believes you’re mentally slow, you probably are.

Note system? Probably not, but managers do talk off the record about reports.

Yes there is. I have access. It is in a SharePoint site. If you want the notes on you, just give me your ELID. No need for names, I can look the notes up that way.

I have outlasted many of my managers. They’ve all left the company. Most were pretty bad managers, a couple really good. Over the years, they’ve changed the employee rating system. I’d be interested if there was a separate set of books in addition to the rating system they have now. That would make a great lawsuit. Though, I don’t think there is.

Yes, there is a secret notes system and we absolutely write in it about your lack of mental acuity.
