If you apply for a lateral move and several weeks have gone by since your interview, would you consider that DOA?
I'm sure it varies by group but I'm wondering how long to wait before withdrawing my app?
It seems better to not have a bunch of job applications with a status of 'interview' while I continue searching for new postings. Doesn't that put off hiring managers or recruiters to see multiple open apps? I think it's better to withdraw than be rejected multiple times.
Thoughts?
Recruiters always sound enthused, they say to expect an interview (or assessment or some other next step) but then it never happens. I'm well-qualified for what I do. Not overqualified and not paid above my job class midpoint.
It's frustrating. I wish the rejection process was MUCH faster. I'd rather hear 'no' right away than wait months until someone else is offered the role.
Whether I'm given an offer or rejected, this shouldn't take this long. Accept/reject is not rocket science. You either want the candidate or you don't. And these aren't C level jobs that I'm going for.
Makes me wonder if there's something off-putting in my "file". A remark in my 'meets' midyear, or a note from a manager I interviewed with? I have no idea what's looked at when assessing candidates but I wish I did.
