Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

If you think you're safe you're deluded

You're never safe and if you ever think you are then you're deluded. I've watched people wreck themselves for decades convincing themselves that bad things won't happen to them - that's the truly sad thing. You want to feel safe, find a place that's nothing like Oracle and similar companies as they're biz model doesn't include "Keeping employee's jobs safe...". You're there to learn and earn and move on. Accept that, toughen up, be smart and figure out your realistic chances of survival and move on before you get 'gone' by the Big O.

Situational awareness will protect you much more than being the best at your job. It's an ugly truth that we all have to learn and until we do the pain will keep on coming.

Good Luck.

You are safe right up, and until you accept your offer from Oracle.

With Oracle, you’re only safe until you’re not.

You seriously need to just move on. Doing anything else will only deepen your problems. Be glad nothing worse will happen as it well could have.

Situational awareness.

Perfectly said.

I see the writing on the wall in my department and I’m looking. However, others notice nothing.
