You're never safe and if you ever think you are then you're deluded. I've watched people wreck themselves for decades convincing themselves that bad things won't happen to them - that's the truly sad thing. You want to feel safe, find a place that's nothing like Oracle and similar companies as they're biz model doesn't include "Keeping employee's jobs safe...". You're there to learn and earn and move on. Accept that, toughen up, be smart and figure out your realistic chances of survival and move on before you get 'gone' by the Big O.
Situational awareness will protect you much more than being the best at your job. It's an ugly truth that we all have to learn and until we do the pain will keep on coming.
Good Luck.
This place is the biggest joke of a business
It's not a business, it's a high tech version of game of thrones.
LE net worth up 50% since 2018. Made a bundle off Elon. Needs some change for his hobby really estate projects and to to paper over the Cerner mess at VA. You the laid off are the latter.
SC and LE are too poorly advised to do the right thing. Ruthless individuals who are hollow to their core.
Who should be fired is the communications people whose job it is to stand up to them and say, this is BAD for business.
But anyone who’s close enough to the king and queen is still suckling at the teet. They won’t bite the hand that feeds them.
