I know there were probably a lot of good people lost in those areas where whole organizations were axed. But, in other areas, where there were people picked out to be removed, do you think the right people were axed? Or have you seen people axed who were the best in their area?

Well I can hope the right people got axed. But it’s not at all clear yet.
If you’re in a security role, or in HR or Legal, it doesn’t matter how incompetent you are, you won’t be impacted.
That just means the high performers who remain will end up doing the low performer shitwork. Let's see how long that lasts.
To be completely honest everyone in my org was that let go was a low or average performer, the high performers were not affected.
Did the right people get axed?
Yes.
Most of the lay offs I've heard about from the CX org were from products Oracle has determined not to continue pursuing. As such, many talented people were let go for being on the wrong team at the wrong time. The bigger question is were the right products demoted or eliminated. The strategic direction of Oracle seems to be getting more muddled with internal politics determining winners instead of a coherent focused strategy. With Larry secluded on his island and Safra being a number cruncher there doesn't seem to be a focused vision on where Oracle products should go. Instead, everything in knee jerk reaction causing Oracle to continually enter new markets late.
I personally feel that a lot of great people were axed.
I have seen a couple people who stepped in to help out during staff shortage, did a great job at it, but were let gone.
Almost hard to believe “why them?”.
There’s only one word for these layoffs. Cruel.
It doesn't matter that they were. They will find some other company and beat Oracle, and LJE/SC will regret it. Or not. They don't get hurt by these layoffs anyway.
I hear Larry axed the biggest feral hog on his island to pickle for labor day festives.
Well - he had it axed.
Management is still there.
Yes. Lot of great people were axed. Reasons are difficult to know.
