Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

The replay is live !

Skipped straight to Q&A. Happy that our questioned was really asked. Few thoughts:

Charlie knows this is a bad place to work. He kept reiterating that the goal is to make this place a great place to work. Every person within my network here has said the same thing. It’s. Hard. To. Hire. People. The word is getting out wells is bad so not only are people leaving but the name is also getting tarnished.

In response to our question, chuckles said yeah we can give a raise or one time bonus but it’ll come out of your benefits, 401k match or insurance. Hilarious guy.

The pressure seems to be ramping up. The sense of urgency in his voice is there. The coherent plan? Still a little missing but it’s apparent Charlie knows he has something to prove.

You mean it’s hard to hire GOOD people. Can find scrubs all day long, but most aren’t worth employing. We had three spots open for almost four months for higher level tech jobs. Interviewed dozens of people, none could meet what we needed. Finally ended up hiring two people in India that had the qualifications and are doing an amazing job now. Not the route we wanted to take, but we had to fill roles with good talent. The US ones are not coming here.

Quiet Quitting is the thing. Google it and spread the word.

As a team member of the usian corporate family would just resign for free and save the company even more money. And then would make a bubbly overly positive pc pr "social" media post about how awesome and great it was to have so many opportunities while they were a wage slave in the vile us empire

There is definitely some SEO cleanup going on. Try searching this site for Wells Fargo on different browsers. You’ll see a stark difference in results.

No doubt they are paying a web reputation firm to clean up what’s displayed on search so this site is either not returned it non-existent.

Wish I could make $50M+ to accomplish nothing for two years. I'd be ok with falling out of the social club because of it.

How did he graduate college with such poor public speaking ability? Much less become a leader in any business. Ah, um.

What we were sold:
“We’re going to overhaul our risk management framework, lift the asset cap, and transform Wells Fargo into a much more efficient company!”

What we’ve received:

  • No meaningful accomplishments on risk framework or asset cap, but we launched a new credit card product!
  • Spans and layers resulting in reporting structures that exist only on paper and lead to mass confusion
  • Nonsensical job reclassifications with loss of transparency around compensation
  • Revocation of remote work accommodations
  • 401(k) match changed to annual from quarterly
  • Customer service, and internal employee support (tech, etc) both falling off a cliff due to experienced attrition, offshoring, cost cutting, and generally poor planning
  • Self inflicted “hiring crisis” due to location strategy, DEI, and RTO approach

I could go on…

Charlie bit off more than he could chew. He thought the asset cap was a slap on the behind for a company that was acting unethically.

It was really a hard stop for a company that has rotten processes and controls. I don’t know what happened but he finally took a wholistic look at the enterprise and realized what the fudge the whole enterprise needs an overhaul.

He’s also been here long enough that this is his company. He can’t just leave for another CEO position. if he fails at wells he’s screwed like the rest of us. Yes he has millions on millions but he’s gonna fall out of the boys club.

Chuckles has had something to prove since 2019. He's really only had 1 job to do, which is rehab the company and get the asset cap lifted. He's failed miserably on both fronts.
