Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

How much longer would you have stayed if you hadn't been laid off?

I feel sorry for everyone who is affected. I hope that I will manage to find a new job before they show me the door. Unfortunately, many stayed here longer than they should have, and I believe that many would have left voluntarily in the very near future but they were laid off in the meantime.

You get a cola every year?
Ha - I get one every working DAY!
Sometimes 2, or even 3 if I am really thirsty.

I left in March after learning the new hire I was training was making $50k more than me. Best move I ever made. I am now making twice my base, I receive a cola every year, bonus and stock options. Oracle is living in the stone ages. They are management heavy and the employees are treated very poorly.

I wish all of you luck and I promise it is better on the other side.

After staying for a long time and being laid off in a previous round, I'd recommend not staying too long. There does not seem to be a lot of demand for Oracle skills out there in the world today and if you are an oracle manager, no one seems to think your management skills are useful either. Stay for awhile, then move on to a less toxic, more progressive company that has at least a little respect for their people.

Not much longer. I had been interviewing and Monday was going to either be giving notice or getting laid off. I am happy to take a few more weeks of Larry's money in exchange for the lack of communication and grace for his employees.
