Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

IT Billion Dollar Contract - End Date?

In Sep 2018, we signed a $700 million dollar contract with Inf0sy$ for them to takeover most of IT. Then in Jan 2019, we added another $250 million to that contract.

Does anyone know how many years was that contract for? Was it extended?

How are we tracking their results? Where are their results? Cost savings?

Most of the Infy contractors are "shared resources". So they work 20% on this project, 50% on that project, etc. etc. Which is completely inefficient and useless.

Whenever a critical "due date" is approaching, suddenly, Infy claims they have to move their contractors around to another critical project and the due date is therefore missed (and pushed out). And, of course, the new contractor(s) have to be trained.

Endless cycle. Nothing gets done.

Even better write to the business bureau of wsj. If you look hard enough you will find under the covers. You have to provide a specific complaint to the board. There have been stories of directors and VP being dumped [after their court cases ended]...harassment towards women is not uncommon especially by non Americans [for them women are like property]

Don't be fooled by the diversity hires. It's all a sham

The board knows exactly what’s going on. No point in writing a letter or email to them.

India/infy have already stolen over 90% of VZ IT US jobs.

Infy doesn’t have a lot of time left in their 5year, billion dollar contact to show/produce results. So far, they have nothing to show.

But, maybe that’s why Sampath was recently made CEO of VZ Business.

Hans has his golden parachute. He will leave. Sampath will take over and he certainly won’t force Infy to show any results for all that money we paid them. Sampath will just extend the Infy contract another 5 years and give them another Billion to do nothing.

About a decade ago, Indian directors had established relationships with contracting companies. They would hire from only those small agencies. It didn't matter if the person was qualified.

They then reduced the no of agencies to reduce the corruption.

Payoffs were made in India. Wives were hired as QA contractors. Then one director would do the other director a favor and hire the wife as contractor or fte

The corruption is now at a global scale. Imagine hundreds of millions of dollars being decided by these corrupt Indians

Send a letter to the board...heads will roll and if nothing else you will be paid a year package to keep your mouth shut

[ @2biu+1hxcTUVx ] HR and Ethics are corrupt. HR and Ethics are NOT on your side.

One of my former coworkers with many years of service and multiple degrees in Engineering was forced to work for an asian-indian ED during her last 2 years with the company.

The ED and his male, asian-indian Directors, discriminated, harassed and bullied her endlessly.

This included taking away all of the people on her team and forcing her to do all of the work by herself.

She documented everything. Finally, after a year of abuse, she went to HR and Ethics.

She pleaded with them to reinstate the former members of her team and to just move the team back to their former department/ED.

HR and Ethics claimed they "investigated" but found no evidence of discrimination, harassment or bullying.

They also told her it was absolutely "impossible" to reinstate any of the team members or move the team back to their former department/ED.

A couple weeks later, she was RIFd. She had well over 25 years service. She was replaced by 3 or 4 Infy guys.

If anyone finds themselves in that situation, it is best to consult with an employment lawyer immediately.

Do NOT go to HR or Ethics. They are NOT on your side!!

What amazing to me is there is no Americans that can do these IT jobs. If you see bu-----t at work. Call the compliance holiness, they do investigate. Keep calling. Especially if your boss runs a hostile work place as most Inidans do here. Get them fired. Do what it take.

It is not an accident that all IT C level, SVP, Vp, Directors and AD come from Tamil Nadu.

The corruption is widespread and spreads across the company. Why do we need to hire Indians from VDSi to Executive Director and VP positions?

What happened to the Americans?

This is normal. Monthly expenditure to Five Indian vendors is 100 of millions. They are paid for work that is substandard and never completed.

Employees are then told how they must deliver on the same job these companies were hired to do.

Write an email or letter to the board. These companies and our IT executives need to be held accountable

I was laid off by a large well known US semiconductor company when they decided to offshore the IT work to Infosys in India. It was chaos for those who were 'spared' from layoffs and my former employer tried to hire me back three times over the next year (each time I politely declined).

Check payments to the family in India of IT executives from shell companies - Follow the money!

India is one of the most corrupt countries in the world to do business with.

The India IT folks started coming to the US in the 90s. Over the years, some of them worked their way into the upper ranks of large US corporations like Verizon.

Once there, they used their power to cut deals with the India Government and India IT companies like Infosys so that for every US job they took away and gave to one of their fellow countryman, their families in India would receive payment.

On paper, it looks cheaper. But factor in all of the "funny money" and I'm not so sure.

Quite often, I would see one Verizon IT worker being replaced by 3 or 4 Infosys contractors. Infy claims it is because they are "shared resources", so one Infy contractor doesn't work 100% on one project.

I don't believe it. You get what you pay for.

I don't know how far up this corruption goes. Zuckerburg, Cuban and the other "masters of the universe" are constantly pleading with Biden to allow more H1B workers because of the supposed shortage of US STEM workers. There is NO shortage of US STEM workers!!

We need to get rid of this corrupt H1B Visa program.

Recompete, when will this current Infy contract be recompeted, fairly, and then continue to add value to Verizon's IT needs, or the same-old-same-old??? Is the initial headcount denoted, quantified as 1,500 rebadgers, help revitalize Verizon's IT needs by lowering payroll costs??

1,500 employees including about 500 VDSI were rebadged to Infosys. In my 30 years at VZ, this was the absolute worse day ever even though I wasn't selected to move to Infosys. Shankar and his senior management team that crafted and executed this failed plan should have been fired long ago. To this day no one has been held accountable while IT has become a travesty that can't deliver squat.

In the department I was in at the time the agreement was made to go with managed services, our entire VDSI (India) team was outsourced to Infosys (along with most of the onshore resources) so there was no one left to RIF.

Infy and VZ India have caused a major diversity problem in Verizon, particularly within IT.

India still has a problem with caste discrimination within its country. Arranged marriages are also very common in India (women do not have equal rights).

Download the org chart of an Asian-Indian Exec Dir Or Director of a large group in IT.
Break it down by the number/percentage of men, women and asian-indians in each salary grade.

In my dept, men dominate the higher SG positions (SG 5,6 & 7). Additionally, asian-indians dominate the higher SG positions (SG 5 & 6).

During the last RIF, I don't recall ANY asian-indians being RIFd.

Google just agreed to pay $118million to settle a pay discrimination case.

Hopefully, VZ fixes this diversity problem before they are faced with the same.

Maybe that is why we are bringing in Eric Shorter to do a diversity audit.

Outsourcing, and selecting Infy [emphasis added], was and has been a disaster. The Verizon IT Executive, who championed this plan should have known better and "not" Outsourced a large number of positions. Only outsource selected Verizon jobs, and not the large universal overhaul of jobs. Many innocent and trusted former Verizon employees were disenfranchised, suffered, and have paid the price.

InfoSys culture does not mesh with the Verizon culture. Supposedly, InfoSys is just now making money abd being accretive to the InfoSys bottom line, EPS, earnings per share.
