For Sale: Wells Fargo Tower @ "550 California Street, San Francisco, CA"

Another San Francisco office tower hit the commercial real estate market this week, this time from legacy business Wells Fargo, as first reported in the San Francisco Business Times.

The banking giant’s 13-story building at 550 California Street is listed for $160 million. It's part of an ongoing effort to reduce the company’s real estate footprint: The news comes just a few months after it was announced Wells Fargo will end its lease at 45 Fremont Street.

While the company will lose about 355,000 square feet and 146,500 square feet, respectively, from giving up those properties, Wells Fargo made headlines just last week when it renewed its lease at 333 Market St. The financial district lease was the largest lease agreement in San Francisco since the start of the pandemic. The more than 620,000-square-foot space will house many of the employees from its former offices.

The company’s corporate headquarters at 420 Montgomery St. is approximately 400,000 square feet.

A Wells Fargo spokesperson told SFGATE the company is committed to San Francisco and its San Francisco employees, but it has more real estate than it needs to support its workers.

“As part of our multiyear effort to build a stronger, more efficient Wells Fargo, we continually assess our real estate portfolio to ensure we are best meeting the needs of employees and customers, responding to consumer and economic trends, and managing our costs responsibly,” the spokesperson said.

Wells owns it’s assets in long term locations. Min/Charlotte/NYC/Phoenix/ and soon Dallas. Writing is on the wall.

Yeah, right!!! That’s what they told Frederick, Md till they closed the building entirely.

“Translated, we will fire some more to fit the employees into our downsized new offices.”

They don’t even have to do that. All they have to do is cram us in even tighter.

SF has a 22% commercial vacancy rate, its crazy high. These purple hair, mouth foaming, nut jobs are about to have their last great solid big employer in that messed up town drop the mic and walk. The left deserves it too, they've been shanking the company in the back over and over and over without remorse.

has been in the news for months that they were going to sell it they also this week renewed 333 market for 10 years so chances are everyone at 550 will either go to 420 Montgomery or 333 market. smart move and even at 160MM someone will buy it.

Translated, we will fire some more to fit the employees into our downsized new offices. We will rinse and repeat until Charlie gets enough compensation due to a continual profitable bottom line.

See, that was real easy, wasn't it?

If you doubt wells plans for Texas just google “project falcon”. Wells of course denies it but it’s been in motion for a while now. Covid just slowed it down. Question is SF , St. Louis, Minneapolis or who moves there?

WF will never leave SF. WF is too woke and too stupid. They'll dig in their heels against pressure to move to a more business friendly state, money be damned (in their worldview).

iva+1hvRzjve It’s not just the anti-abortion stuff. Wells would not be pretending to care about that if they didn’t know that most of their customers were pro choice.

The problem with Texas is they can’t keep the lights on. The issues with their power grid are massive and they have no interest in fixing them. They will only get worse.

This is old news. Wells will just cram the people who work in that building into the market street space they just re- upped on.

Now that they’ve ripped out cubicle walls and converted everything into open office space with people sitting bu-t to bu-t they can unload real estate. The whole point.

Whenever the leaders promise something you know that it is a lie. Our heart may be left in SF but that's about it. The generic bank in NY is the new place

Wow. So this will artificially inflate our balance sheet to make Chuckie appear to be doing his job. Yay!

WF isn't going to move it's headquarters to Texas, Texas is going full fascist in it's anti-abortion crusade, WF isn't going to want any part of that.

Texas just went from business friendly to business hostile.

https://www.cnbc.com/2022/06/24/chevron-to-relocate-head-office-within-california-sell-existing-hq.html

Chevron just pulled their HQ from the bay area and relocating to TX. WF is for sure next on deck. With tech companies currently getting destroyed SF will be in real trouble when one of their biggest employers WF pulls the HQ out there.

One of the less enjoyable WF locations, good riddance.

Won't be long and the HQ will be out of SF. Left wing political leaders have been using this company like a punching bag for the last 6 years which I've always found strange. Tens of thousands of high paying jobs and related tax revenue from this bank will be given up when the HQ moves to a Red State. Plus no more money for the homeless tip jars, eating out, and trickle down.. SF political leaders are gearing up to make their city the new Detroit, and I love It.
