Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

What do you like about WFC?

It's easy to list things we hate about WFC, but here's a real challenge: name something you like about the company.

I've had a 20 year run of good managers and coworkers.

I am paid well. I work from home full time. And I have a ton of days off every year equivalent to about 2 months a year of paid days off.

Lost a few from my team in the past year (layoffs/attrition). They did get a modest pay bump. But they have less days off and the grass isn't always greener with coworkers and managers.

Please stop replying to these, “What do you like” posts. This is what the execs use when they have to decide what to cut next.

Maybe this is true for the banking industry in general, but it seems to me that we get a lot of PTO, at least compared to most Americans, even in other white collar careers. And in my group at least we’re never discouraged from using all of it or limited in what days we can take it, as long as we give appropriate heads up in advance and make sure all our work gets done by any deadlines.

I have been checked out for almost 6 months virtually working 2 hours a day, have not RTO'ed, have used this time to increase my annual compensation by 70 %.

No other employer gives you this flexibility.

Two very important days in my life: The day I started and the day I logged off for the last time. Both good days... the latter, actually GREAT.

Taking my cash balance and moving that free money to an IRA.

Moving my 401K elsewhere.

Refinancing my house with a bank that is NOT WF.

No longer working with out of touch and unappreciative management.

Hmmm…that’s like naming something you like about Russia and Vladimir.

Power-hungry self-serving authoritarian leadership, characterized by intimidation and suppression of opponents and those beneath him/them. Negative cultural shifts, thousands of once secure jobs in question, once-believers fleeing, shrinking opportunities, corruption and betrayal at the top, non- transparent leadership lacking trust and respect. No nothing really good to say.

I liked my manager and my coworkers. The work was easy. Not a lot of red tape for everything.
Working at another company now, and everything is a pain to get anything done. Wells was simple, and I truly miss that.

My team and our customers. Despite the negativity here from people obviously working at a job they hate, I think we always try and meet the needs of our customers.

The fact that the number of nicknames for Charlie increases on this board faster than his out-of-control compensation package.

Wells Fargo has shown the ability to make dramatic changes. The SF Wells in the mid-to-late 1990s was awful. Wells became a much better bank after Norwest bought it in the late 90s. I think that was the golden era. It changed again after the Wachovia acquisition. Wachovia added an East Coast attitude to what was a chill West Coast and Midwest bank.

The post-scandal Wells is, once again, an awful bank. But, if history is any indication, the bank will have the ability to change once more into something good.

Peers and manager are great. I like the work I do. Literally the only problem with this place from my perspective is RTO. I was remote and it was great. Now 3 days a week I waste time and fuel for no reason. Like many people I have no peers, manager, directs or anyone else even obliquely related to my role at my assigned site, so it's completely pointless to come in. My team is geographically dispersed, has to be near customers, and can't be hubbed. So yeah, FRTO.
