Old news, I realize. I appreciate WFC attempting to go green (interpretation: cut costs), but this is just another example of someone not getting it. Or not personalizing the decision to the department.
First, they took away most of our printers and put only 2 per floor of 200-300 people. So we can’t see how documents are printing until we walk down the hall. Next - reading reports on two-sides and signing off on them to file for record-keeping slows us down. Even our manager tells us to print docs one-side only. Third, when employees forget it’s going to automatically print out on both sides -they end up throwing print-outs away and reprinting one side only which is a waste.
My point is that people at the top don’t understand what we do, how we do it, how much of a time crunch we’re under since talent is getting laid off or leaving on their own. And our systems are too ancient to allow a better way of executing certain tasks that do not involve paper.
I suggest our leadership go through training from the bottom up in order to comprehend the basics of the business they are attempting to lead.
