A great CEO? Really? He was the demise of Southwest Bell then the rest of us who had good jobs at Ameritech, Southern Bell, etc.

Remember it was Ed Whitacre who name Stephenson as his successor. I'm sure Randall 'consulted' with him before many of these failed mergers as well. I wouldn't put Whitacre on the Mt. Rushmore of great CEO's but at least he doesn't have the failed mergers of DirecTV & Warner Media on his resume.
Whitacre was poor CEO. His name on it makes the award a joke.
