Always, but absolutely always when there are layoffs or when there is a lot of rumor about layoffs, someone comes here and talks about being completely indifferent about being laid off or not. Why is that? My colleague and a friend was laid off, it hit him very hard, and I know how dedicated he was to his job and how hard he worked.
For such indifferent people it would be more polite to quit.

36 years allows that.
I'll continue to be indifferent until it's not in the bank every other Friday.
Working hard and being dedicated to the job ends at the end of the day. Everyone is just a number the next day
So are you close in age or assets to retiring? Just waiting for something to push you over the edge?
I am. I'll keep working until something makes my mind up more strongly that I'd rather not be here and have assets that will last.
If there's a layoff, and I can get 6 months pay, that might make my mind up.
It has nothing to do with being indifferent to the job. I do the job I am expected to do the same as anyone else.
