Been in twice now. When reports/queries are running, instead of being productive and throwing that load of laundry in, I just sit at my desk twiddling my thumbs. When I need coffee, instead of having my preferred pot already ready to go along with my heavy cream (fridgerated), I now have to run across the street and spend money on expensive coffee. The breakrooms had none on offer, and the cup I'd brought the day before was dirty. At lunch instead of grabbing food from my fridge and eating while running more reports, I now have to take time off to go down several floors to the break room, or if I managed to leave it on the table at home, i have to run down the street to get something, again at cost. When I'm actually in the zone, suddenly people are at my desk chatting about training, or other LOBs or other sites. Whatever happens to be the topic of the day. The guy two desks over is so loud I cannot concentrate picking over complex queries to find the places needing to be fixed/edited to meet a request that was submitted.
On top of all that, like always happened in the past, the moment I step into that center, my eyes start itching and my stress has gone up. At home, my 8 hours hit and I keep on working to get a project out since I'm "in the zone". In the office, the moment I hit 8, I shut down regardless of what is running and leave.
