good thing craft will not be layed off but the rest of the groups that are not bargained for face an uncertain future.
This is the same d-mb comment posted a week or so ago. Layoffs will be driven by events, not a particular timetable. They'll occur as efficiencies improve, or business declines. And they will occur in conjunction with reduction in real estate holdings, including lease terminations. Maybe there will be some kind of outsourcing deal. And that is it. 2022 will be another 2021, which means, there is not going to be a lot to say about the relevant topic here, layoffs.
"Can't layoff".......funniest thing I've read on this site in 10 years
Nothing stated they can’t sell the network.
I’m A NTS in the northeast and our current contract which was just extended for another four years this past January has a watermark for techs that must be maintained for the duration of the agreement. Our previous contracts have also had that provision. I suppose they can offer a voluntary separation to entice some of the more senior people to leave but they would have to back fill
There are loopholes in every contract written, so don't be naive and think for a minute that this agreement doesn't have one that would allow T to extricate itself from this one and be able to layoff if certain conditions present themselves!
All the different companies that have been bought by or created by SBC have different contracts. I have not heard of a company that has agreed to no surplus in 2022 but I guess there might be one out there. Here in SBC our contract that was extended without rattification or acceptance by the membership has no provision like that (that I am aware).
It would be a stretch to imagine that any of the companies would agree to no layoff's in a contract but I guess it's possible.
This is the week that has the 15th day of the third month of the quarter so this isw a week that they normally announce any surplus. It looks like Stank, at the present, is concentrating his surplus ideas on management so maybe we are safe for a while until he's tired of swinging the axe on management.
Contractually, they can't layoff in 2022. In 2023, it's anyone's guess.
