Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Cost Cutting plans in the making

Has anybody heard any more about the $1 billion cost reduction program Oracle execs have cooked up? The word a few weeks ago was that layoffs may disproportionately impact workers in the US and Europe in business areas such as marketing for software applications in customer service and e-commerce. Was also mentioned that If you're in CX or OA your likely in the target area for layoffs.

This info came out about 2 weeks ago but then haven't heard any more about it, which has me a bit concerned.

Is anybody hearing more about these plans?

I understand that we will hear what, who, when.... next week. the question will be what is the overall % of employee base impacted and where are they located, based...

Still unclear on how the acquisitions fit into this...?

I have also heard that it could be next week given those are the official last weeks of AK and JL, as well as a few other marketing execs.

What I am most curious about is how ( or even) will the acquisition employees be impacted with the impending layoffs?

Overlapping roles will be pruned and deadwood will be discarded.

What I am most curious about is how ( or even) will the acquisition employees be impacted with the impending layoffs?

We just ( and I mean literally just ) brought over a staggering 28,000 employees from Cerner. This is no small number of employees which were absorbed into Oracle employee base.

Are they to be included in the reductions? Will there be any attempt to address duplicative roles before job cutting takes place ? Or do we operate as two completely separate companies with no efficiencies to be gained?

For me, if this cutback is exclusive to just Oracle employees then it's clear to me that this company is now pivoting over to becoming a HEALTHCARE Digital service vendor and gone are the days of offering a comprehensive and fully integrated stack of cloud applications and cloud platform services.

Pretty clear from all sources I am seeing, both internal and external, that Layoffs are coming in August. US Marketing as well as SAAS support, digital supply support are most likely the biggest targets

Given that layoffs have been estimated in range of '000's ( in order to achieve the $1B mark) all of the coordinating pieces like HR, Team Leaders Legal.... will be informed in the next couple of weeks as to what the exact plans are w and the suspense should be over.

It looks like for sure Marketing will be involved in cutbacks given that both Kelman and Lindner have been let go - this is never a good sign when the leaders are let go you know the hatchet men will be coming behind.

Also anybody involved in teams selling software applications that automate customer services and e-commerce functions are most likely in the red zone.

We should have expected this since the Big O posted a 28% drop in operating income last month and the $28B deal for Cerner also just closed - this was too much negative debt and losses to absorb, so the employees take the bullet and LE just bought the most expensive home in Florida!! Isn't that the way it always works...

Hearing big hit to CX Product Development teams across various CX Products, Commerce, Content Management and Analytics. Big money spent in these areas over last 10 years and not enough return on investment.

Also hearing on grapevine. some sites may close completely in Europe.

I saw people mentioned CX, is the source from that initial article? The article reads more like marketing, so is it marketing roles within CX that will be impacted? Or anyone knows which teams and what roles in CX will be affected?

I did hear the news when this came out couple of weeks ago and since then the only additional info I hear is that the cost cutting moves will take place in Q3 in order to get some benefits on year end close numbers, but don't know how reliable it is.

One thing for sure is big O will for sure hit the high cost countries like US in a big way with cutback.

If your upper management have been MIA it means they are working on it. If your not involved you are either too much of a lower level person. Or on the list! Get your CV/Resume in order
