Exit interviews

Are these a thing anymore? If leaving externally or even internally?

I resigned last year. No exit interview and I was hoping for one to share why I made the decision to leave after a decade at the bank.

  1. inept management - I had multiple managers over 10 years. None were great. Most were mediocre at best. They didn't know the LOBs they were put in place to oversee the function for our team.
  1. zero professional development/career growth support
  1. pitiful raises despite stellar reviews.
  1. promised promotions never coming to fruition.
  1. Lack of team support - it was largely every man/woman for themselves, no appreciation for collaboration. This was not a revenue producing/sales team.
  1. New leadership came in and completely undermined the existing teams. Dozens of high performers (long time team members) left this team on their own accord because of the utter disregard for their contributions.
  1. toxic culture.

What's the point of sending an exit/feedback form if they are just going to turn it around on the former employee? Wow, this place astounds me.

@1nry+1hOnUQJR Thanks to everyone who shared. My last day is next week and I got the survey and thought, “why bother?” You have all reinforced my initial reaction was the correct one.

Proud ex-employee here. I did my emailed exit survey. Supposedly, comments are aggregated and presented to leadership without attribution. I had access to the most senior leaders at the company. I gave a thorough accounting of the truth - using specific examples, though not calling anyone out by name.
Months later, I got an email and calendar request from Wells Fargo HR - for the next morning!
I responded that um, I don’t work here anymore and have work to do at my new company, I’m not at their beck and call anymore.
They said that I made statements in my (anonymous) exit survey that runs afoul of the company’s vision and values. I was given a deadline to respond to their questions. All questions clearly had the outcome in mind (e.g., they would investigate but ultimately blame me, or give my manager a slap on the wrist, even though it had nothing to do with her).
My advice is don’t bother with this cr-p. If you’re honest it will come back to bite you. Just be happy that you’re out of WF and their dysfunction is no longer your problem.

@coi. You better watch. #QAnonAdmin don’t like the truth on this site.

True that. Good comparison.

Apparently there are some who don’t like the truth spoken out loud. Imagine that considering they tried a coup when they lost an election.

Thanks all. My whole team has fled so I thought maybe they would be curious as to why, but probably not.

the exit interviews are looked at especially in areas where high attrition is causing issues. I'd expect some positive changes coming to the areas in the coming months.

They don't listen when we're actively employed, so I doubt anyone wants to listen after we're gone!

As long as you transfer all your work to the Indians they don't care.

I completed after retiring, thinking it might help those I left behind. A definite no when answering the question about returning to WF. Took my time, and provided narrative. So offered to explain further if needed. No further contact.

Why even do one? They don't give two sh/ts about why you left.

@sbt is correct it’s through email not an actual interview. I put some pretty scathing, but true, comments and nothing was ever followed up on

Regardless of the company, exit interviews are a joke.

I didn’t have one the other week. Just received an anonymous, but suspiciously non-shareable and uniquely identified, link to a survey with questions framed to minimize any negatives.

No but two women coworkers did go to the bathroom and have a conversation - does that count.

You get a link if as far as I know you a) resign (vs laid off), b) leave the company. You'll start to get links to your work email, then after you leave to your personal email. It has general questions in it and a long page at the back for commentary. You can fill it in at any time, or call HR and provide your exit survey feedback over the phone.

I gave notice last week. Yesterday I got an email for an “exit survey”. Haven’t responded to it yet so not sure what’s in it. Might not bother.

Others I know who have left over the last year have been contacted by a third party as many as 10 months after they left. Others 3-4 months later.
