Hiring people for a short time just to lay them off. Is there any logic in that? It's ruthless.

Welcome to Oracle. Nothing is beneath them. I got out 18 months ago and make more than double the salary as I made at O with less stress (and was a highly paid director in my department). Best thing I ever did.
