I was a long term U.S. based employee, and a customer. Once I was displaced … I ‘offshored’ my accounts out of WF into another bank. A Really bad and costly move for WF.

@1vrh You're using semantics. The data may reside in the US, but the Indian workforce has access to it to perform roles. You think they can may credit risk and mortgage processing decisions without PII?

Lol. “...get more competitive”

India has over 15 million in some sort of state of slavery. Horrible living situations for tens of millions not in slavery.

I thought WF was woke? Hmmm

It’s all a game.

Data is not sent overseas. This thread is all speculation by unknowledgeable employees.

@cvy. And often does, as they are not subject to US laws. Most people do not realize that their data is vulnerable if sent overseas and these companies do not care because it is cheap.

The offshore workforce knows they are paid at the most 1/5 of Americans.

Resentment could spur a huge data breach.

They don’t care as long as they get their 20% raises and their stock options.

What about the inherent risk associated with massive offshoring in a business like banking?

"What makes it worse is that 95% of them are horrendous at their job, while being pompous and condescending at the same time."

I don't know, I love sending out work overseas! That way they can throw it back at us when they run into the tiniest problem.

We could pass laws that make us even less competitive globally in the hopes that that will result in positive outcomes, or we could work on making our workforce/industries more competitive globally to get at the root cause of the issue.

@adf I think the US is the only country in the developed world that does not have privacy protections for its citizens. We are a commodity that the politicians and their crony capitalist friends can buy and sell.

We have everyone’s financial data!! How have our lawmakers never bothered to protect citizen’s info by barring F.I.s from offshoring sensitive roles AT MINIMUM?!?? Politicians need a wake up call!!!! (or not to be sellouts to big banks)

My whole team in consumer lending just got let go and our jobs sent to India. The F..ed up thing was one of our team members was told a month ago to work from home full time to train the offshore team, to lie if anyone asked why he wasn’t in the office and not tell anyone else we were about to get canned.

It’s unpatriotic and a massive federal
contractor like Wells should be prohibited by law from offshoring
