Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

10%

If you're not giving your employees a 10% raise right now, you're giving them a pay cut.

@1dae talking about public schools (which means he can afford to send his kids to private school) tells us all we need to know about his (lack of) perspective for the common man or woman.

It's free money when it doesn't create commensurate value. I could move a pile of rocks from one side of my yard to the other...and then move them right back. It'd be back breaking labor, but does it create value? Not really. What should I be paid for it? Nothing. When you decouple compensation from creating value, chaos follows. See Detroit, where the hard working guy sweeping the floor was making big bucks from Big Auto, until it all came crashing down. We need to stop living in fantasyland.

Nice try, but yes, I've been on board the "stop bankrupting the nation" train since the 80s. Outside of a very short period of time in the mid 90s, federal finances have been an absolute mess and it's all fun and games to keep kicking the can down the road but all that will do is make the fall out worse. What we're seeing now is only the very tip of that iceberg.

@1dae - how is being paid a fair living wage for their work “free money”?

So we’re you complaining about dumping money into the economy when the Trump tax cuts for the corporations and the rich happened?

Somehow I am guessing you weren’t.

Hypocrisy from certain quarters is the rule rather than the exception.

Just like protect life…until you have to pay for their health care or their social security.

Yeeeah, the guy saying "free money for everyone!!!" talking about "pseudo economics". Brilliant. Public schools, I take it. Here's an idea that works in the real world, pay for performance and the value that each person brings to the org in a competitive marketplace for talent. Not talking about WF specifically, I mean generally, with all employers. Or we could continue to prance through the economic nightmare that your ideas have created pretending it's not the root of the issue, randomly allocating capital based on irrelevant factors or even worse, no factors at all. That'd be cool too, at this point I really don't care. Burn it down.

But what about my yacht and 7 houses? I need those.

Again, when raises and bonuses are offered, you're free to decline it.

But you won't, despite all your pseudo -economics grumblings.

Now then Spanky, stop being a hypocritical d-bag, and get back to your super important role at Wells.

It's almost like you're unaware that randomly dumping money into the economy isn't the root cause of inflation...or that dumping more won't make it worse. It's a lot like the "$15/hr min wage mob". Great plan, until it reduces everyone's buying power to the point that $15/hour isn't enough anymore. Most people with an IQ above room temp knew that would be the end result, the rest are clamoring for more money dumping.

From reading the posts so far, some of you want raises, and some of you don't.

So here's what's going to happen. Wells is going to offer raises. You can accept or decline with no further implications either way.

(Why do I get the idea that the posters claiming to be not in favor of raises would accept the raise 🤔)

if companies increase pay to keep up with inflation then you will keep spending and inflation keeps rising. if you stop spending then inflation will go down

Newsflash: they try to pay you less and less every year one way or another. Either by increasing your costs or by decreasing your benefits. The only way to "make it" is by controlling your own destiny.
