Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

2021-2025 strategy…. What is it? When and this “innovation” will affect US engineers?

Does anyone have scoop on this? I’ve heard rumors that at the end of 2023 workforce will be decreased and that they are planning to gut automation specialists whom we are so desperately trying to hire now.
I am aware that bank is going through multi-years layoffs as we speak…

OP, they have talked automation for years and actually hired so called automation gurus who milked the company and moved on without accomplishing anything.

They turned out to not be such gurus after all.

This failed Chase management group is all talk, no action like there. Of all the talk, what have they really accomplished the last 2-3 years? Agile and automation is still a pipe dream and anyone who really knows, knows that you can’t automate everything. In fact, you are lucky to do 20-30% and have to maintain that (most complete use don’t like the expense of maintaining it).

It all takes a commitment, financial especially, that these cost cutters will not make.

Just remember we're build "layers" now that are outsourced.

Seen it before. All the roadmaps and fancy PowerPoints, meetings and wasted time.

What you'll NEVER see is any of these "leaders" coming back at the end date and comparing the actual results with those original roadmaps.

But what you will see is yet another new roadmap and another fancy PowerPoint as the cycle spins yet again...

It's the wonderbread mgmt Charlie/Saul/etc. that is selling out American workers for Sunil Patel and Co.

I've been here long enough to know that their 10 year road map will get trashed at some point.

People come up with plans and the financial backing is never there to get them fully completed.

New data centers to replace the old ones and the old ones gone in the next 6-8 years?

It won't happen. They have been saying one particular data center in North Carolina will be going away 15 years ago. We are still putting new stuff in it.

Can't spend on tech, that would mean lower quarterly profit numbers.

“ You think a legit Silicon Valley tech firm is dying to hire “Mowgli Sharma”

This may come as surprise to you, but Silicon Valley is full of Indian engineers.
Microsoft, Google, Twitter, IBM are all headed by Indians
So give the racist stuff a rest

Our technology remains at mid 1990s second generation web sites and 1980s Hogan.. For all of our size and resources we are totally unable to move forward on technology.

Stanford and MIT aren’t immune from diversity quotas. What makes you think they are producing better engineers now? This may have been the case in the past.

They want to embrace Tech, but they won’t want to pay for it, so they hire the cheapest engineers that they can get their hands on. It’s not hard to see. Take a look around. You think a legit Silicon Valley tech firm is dying to hire “Mowgli Sharma” to do some half bu-t hack job on some systems? No. They’re hiring real programmers from places like Stanford and MIT. Wells Fargo? He-l no. We hire bottom of the barrel talent on the CHEAP, then throw our hands in the air when stuff falls apart and the regulators decide to kick us in the ba--s for the 257th time. It’s all a big fat joke.

Based on the failures in automation the past several years and WF keeping those individuals… there will be no automation. Another management pipe dream

They're big on automation and tech spend, wouldn't worry. If your white don't work here though, they hate white people here.

As with anything here they only need you as long as it serves their interests. As soon as the objective is accomplished they dump the game board and move to the next.

Doesn’t matter if that’s this upcoming strategy or all the things they just finished building they are now moving away from.
