Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

What is up with Charlie's recent e-mail re: hiring and recruiting?

Any idea what prompted this freeze/ "pause" ?
The numbers in the link attached seem positive but clearly something is up ?

Uhhh, have you actually hired anyone at WF? There is "measuring", you rate each candidates performance.

The step you apparently want them to take is a 1 way ticket to massive lawsuits. Though I agree that institutionalized racism against the undesirables certainly creeps into the courts, so maybe that's not a concern after all.

WF will never learn that what you measure, gets done. You tell managers, "you must include females and minorities in your candidate pool and interviews" ..umm ok... so that's easy. It falls short of actually identifying any of them as the "most qualified candidate" but the directive didn't say anything about measuring how many get hired/promoted/selected. Duh. More of the same. "you must open 8 new accounts a day" umm ok. Didn't say they had to be actually requested by the customer.

up/down votes are a joke. You can post S**t on here and the same people will vote both ways on the topic.

"Instead of giving up my job, how about I actually hire qualified candidates and promote them when deserving, unlike many managers at WF?"

FIFY.

You agree that always hiring the best candidate will result in a diverse team, right?

@1ukk+1h7BoaC9 Eh not really, it’s mostly just one Qanon guy obsessed with DEI who spams upvotes on anything criticizing it. The comment above yours with the clearly fake story about the oppressed white guy flattering himself is a good example.

Most people know its just lip service and don’t pay it any mind either way.

When WF defines the word "diversity" as meaning non-White by explicitly tracking the number of White employees vs. diverse employees, then any push to hire more "diversity" is hiring based on race - in this case anti-White racism.

WF is bleeding out with all of this virtue-signaling racist hiring and deserves the hate.

It means Charlie and his cronies screwed up again and have to "pause" to fix it. Maybe he should stop making decisions based on water cooler politics and office hallway chats and spend more time working from home? Less interaction with the good ol' boys would reduce distractions and give him more time to think before rolling out another failure.

The sham interviews cut both ways, as people game the system. I’m a white male who recently was aggressively pestered to interview for a position, only to be passed by for it. I learned through the grapevine they’d already selected a female but the business unit needed more examples of white males being turned away to offset some previous shortcomings. Needless to say, I did not appreciate having my time wasted in this cynical manner. I’m looking for jobs outside the company.

@1fij+1h7BoaC9 Said it first . He/ She is showing +10 / -10. Looks like this forum is evenly divided between the pro and anti- DEI lobbies . It is the state of Wells as well, unfortunately . No wonder there is lack of diversity and cohesion in what we do.

@1arr+1h7BoaC9 Hard to call anything on this site virtue signaling since it’s anonymous, and thus doesn’t fulfill the primary goal of virtue signaling.

Instead of giving up my job, how about I actually hire qualified diverse candidates and promote them when deserving, unlike many managers at WF?

Given all the downvotes on my post, clearly WF needs more people like me, not less. Or maybe that’s just the user base of this site? I only wish.

The shame interviews happened to all people not just damn diversity candidates. The difference is you can get some lawyer to drum up falls accusations based on race all day in this political climate. These people have no basis in their claim. I took the email to read that he recognized internal hiring problems and skirted around the false narrative of it only being blacks or whatever else makes you diversity these days.

Sham interviews? LOL as a white 55 year old male I've been subjected to many sham interviews - i could tell after 5 min there was no way I'd get the job - clearly they had someone else already lined up they wanted to hire. This schlitt has been going on since people started interviewing other people.

If they really wanted to promote diversity and eliminate bias within hiring, they should mandate that hiring managers cannot select a candidate that's of their own same ethnicity. You can look up and down the org chart at Wells Fargo and see groups with a Chinese hiring manager that are stacked full of Chinese. Same with Indians. You can find the same with whites and even in pockets you'll see this with blacks. Removing this obvious bias would help to hire the best candidate (or at close to the best if the actual best candidate was of the same ethnicity of the hiring manager). It would also build truly diverse groups - rather than just the fake diversity that we have now where groups are stacked with a majority of what is a supposed minority.

Remember that time when MLK said "the answer to racism is more racism!" Yeah, me neither. But here comes some institutionalized racism anyway. Charlie hires pretty much nothing but white people, my teams have always been super diverse, and now this tool is going to try to shame me for 'failing' in this area. It's just a farce. The only viable explanation is that this is yet another tool to force voluntary attrition.

I truly cannot believe that in this day and age of equality and inclusion, Wells Fargo would dial its commitment to D,E,I in such an obvious manner .

I am part of a D,E,I council myself and very saddened by this sudden reversal.

I am particularly also worried that Wells is not, and was not , ever an inclusive place. It was all a show . The account opening scandal was real. D,E, I scandal is the next and this will drown our CEO for sure.
Unfortunately, many of us drank the coolaid and were taken for a ride by the Hudson Yards who kids.

Clearly you all aren’t paying attention to the news or the article. The woe is white me crowd can hit the door if they want. You’ve had your few hundred years of preferential treatment, time to balance things out. (I’m a cis white male btw, we aren’t all monsters)

I still don't understand how hiring the best person for the job is somehow "racist".

I've been on a lot of interviews here, and they're always done over the phone. We have no idea what race the person is that we're interviewing. For people who live in Minnesota, we can't tell if somebodies accent is "southern" or if it's "ghetto". It sounds the same to us. And these days it seems like all the kids all sound the same anyways. I don't care what color or how old somebody is, I just want the best person for the job.

That "race" checkbox needs to go. It's 2022 for Christs sake!

Doesn't matter at this point. All white people need to be looking external, and go where they're are loved and skills sought after. This DEI cr-p is to much, day in day being brainwashed and being called racist. Its not even a bank anymore.

How many people on this board complained that they were interviewed only to fulfill diversity quotas? I recall a bunch, right after that NYT had an article that backed up the claims. Seems our amazing leaders cannot seem to back up their rosey hiring with facts so now we hit pause to figure out yet another way for white Harvard men to hire a few unlike them.

Do a search for the ny times (all the lies fit to print) and Wells Fargo. You will find the article (https://www.nytimes.com/2022/06/06/business/wells-fargo-fake-job-interviews.html), The "sham" hiring is just another response to quotas in the interview process.....before you can hire a qualified person. The whole DEI adgenda is a joke and they should not even be asking for the race, s-x, se-ual orientation, preferred pronoun as part of the hiring process.
