Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

VERY LITTLE WORK

Too many employees and not enough work in California. Splicers and Central Office employees are bored since there is so little work. HR has sent out Voluntary Separation Benefit forms and over 200 have been submitted but no offers yet in 2022. What gives ?

Cutting union jobs isn't going to start happening until 2023 due to the company agreement with the union personnel. So, get used to the union fat sticking around for a little longer, unscathed!

Awesome news!!!!!! Hopefully, with any luck, we can start cutting useless union fat sooner rather than later. Thx for the update!

Get used to little to no work. This is the new at&t, it's BAU going forward. Yet, they continue to hire new technicians. Santone came over from cable TV, I used to see 7-8 cable TV bucket trucks sitting at the rear in gas station in my small town. That's no longer the case, looks like their workload dried up too.

Another day.
No fishing because it's raining.
I actually did get a job today. Low dead drop. Wrecked.
Then nothing since.
I hit the button every 20 minutes when I move the truck.
No jobs.
The days go so slow, yet are very profitable.

Stankey is asleep at the wheel! Everyone is always bragging about how much money T has. It's just a matter of time before the money dries up. You cannot continue to pay these wages for little to no production. I don't blame rank and file, I blame Stankey.

So clever..you come on here to brag you have no work/jobs to do.

Not trying to be clever, rather, just stating the facts! Not sure why the workload has dried up even though T ramped up its sales teams, but I'd rather stay busy and help contribute to the success of the company! It's just not happening and a lot of people aren' happy about it!

It appears that there is much manipulation of numbers. Bogus tickets and need for more workers ? Falsifying the work by management? A weak attempt to justify their position? A gravy train for some while the company just wastes more money. Stock holders suffer while fiduciary duties disappear.

Why would anybody think about leaving this job when T pays you to do very little as a bargained for employee. I once thought about leaving this company, but it's easy money!
The only downside is that if you're hoping to come to T to learn valuable and marketable skills that you can use if you do get laid off, then it's not gonna happen. The experience you get at T is only worth about $25 per hour on the outside whereas, T pays almost twice that. Pulling cable and installing equipment into a rack is about as easy as it gets, but the skill set isn't worth that much. The problem with T is you get complacent due to the hourly wage. If push comes to shove, you could find yourself in a very precarious situation. Take advantage of TAP and Alliance training and keep yourself current with certifications!

We got put on mandatory 6 days this week due to the "workload".

The entire crew was idle by 2:00 pm.

26 guys on OTO No Work Available for the last two and a half hours of their shift.

Stankey just throwing company money down another rathole. It's as bad, actually worse than I've ever seen it in my 24 years. What a waste of cash!

No work and a very quiet John Stankey is a recipe for something about to come down the pike! What might that be, any guesses? Hmmm, that's a tough one!

Yup.
Tried to get work. Nope.
Did some fishing today while rehabbing peds.
Parked by a hut and walked to the tavern for a pizza.
Tried to get work. Nope.
Then drove around for a while to please the GPS gods.
Took a nap.
Tried to get work. Nope.
Going to pick up some ribs at the meat market, then "take lunch" and drive home and put them on the smoker.
They want us to take e time, but no way.
And my boss is already home. At 1:30.
What a great job.

Same here in District 4, I have a feeling it's that way all over. Still hiring new tech's for workload in the future. Stankey has been eerily quiet of late, sharpening his axe? T is in a downward spiral, can or will anything be done to turn things around?

Mobility in the west is the same way we have no work. Support staff are making up bogus Tickets to look busy.

Very little work is the perfect scenario, makes me love this job all the more. Management is clueless about what the job entails, so they dispatch a tech to only one job per day whether it’s a 30 minute job or a 6 hour job, just one per day!

"strike" lol, the CWA is bought and paid for, they did squat when the contract expired in the west in the middle of the pandemic, they could have asked for a ton of things from a higher pay raise, inclusion of the prem techs into apendix a, pandemic pay, essential worker pay and on and on and they did nothing but ratify the bs terms they got paid by the company to accept. What a bunch of bs, not one single concerted event I've never the union roll over so quickly when they had T by the ba--s.

So you are saying you all have plenty of time to sweep up the CO’s and work centers but choose to work in filth? Explains a lot.

Go sell some more cell phones or sell more wifi extenders. Leave the adults alone here.

Here in Texas the work ebbs and flows. One month, an area I cover will be dead and another will have ASE orders that I struggle to keep up with. The next month, it is reversed. Seems like there are only so many new orders sales and engineering can implement. It all seems to average out.

Here in an OOR area of the country, we're slow and hiring as well! Not enough work for the techs that are here...go figure!

And we're still hiring new tech's! What is wrong with Stankey and Santone? No way this company can stay in business with these two clowns.

Lol seriously ! I dont feel a shred of guilt for anything here. Management has CREATED this mess with their id--tic processes and letting go (or more like pushing out ) those that brought revenue into the company. The biggest crooks to rob att have and will continue to be c-suite.

When I see the tens of billions of dollars that C Suite has blown the last few years, I never feel guilty about making extra OT.

I did 4 jobs last week.
2 were on OT so got 59 hours in.
Drove around, looked busy.
Swept out 2 huts, took naps, did Soduko, read books, did crosswords. Napped.
Parked at huts next to restaurants, opened the door but didn't go in, then went and ate breakfast, lunch.
Dropped $176 in AT&T's gas.
Look good on paper.
Did little, but made over way over $2K.
Over $500 per job.
Perfect.
