Lateral move - raise potential?

Before Workday, there was a policy in TW about salary increases with job changes. I think it said that if you're below the midpoint, you could get a raise.

Since there are no official midpoints/MRP anymore, how do lateral moves work, as far as pay increase?

Lateral moves do not come with a pay increase unless that lateral move requires you to relocate to a higher paid area then where you are currently.

I've never got a raise for a lateral and wouldn't expect one.

All the job title changes broke the job family tool so you can't see what's lateral and what's a promotion. Very frustrating.

Lateral won’t come with a raise. That was the entire purpose of the restructuring of titles last year.

It is possible to get 10%+ for a lateral move, so if a recruiter tells you otherwise, they are misleading you to get you at a bargain price. That said, raises for a lateral move to require the hiring manager to provide a justification which requires OC-2 approval. If a hiring manager thinks your'e worth it and willing to put in the extra effort, they can do it. If not, probably a sign you should keep looking for a manager who will fight for you.

We have a top performer quit because she was not given a promotion and they pulled this rubbish in her. WF is fu---d.

I recently hired someone and it was a lateral move. This person was already paid under what I would consider the acceptable range for the role. I was able to get them a significant increase but it had to have OC+2 approval. If you are willing to fight for it as a hiring manager, it is possible.

I applied for and was given a job offer for a lateral move, being at the low end of the pay range I was hoping for a small increase. The offer when it came was below my current salary and when asked I was told "that's all we have budget for". I obviously turned the offer down and said that an accurate pay disclosure would have saved a lot of wasted time, to which HR said "We know, this is causing a lot of issues right now"

TLDR: Don't expect an increase

There are reasons to take a lateral move, though an immediate pay raise is not one of them. If you are not happy with your current role or manager, make that jump. The other is career strategy. For example, if you wanted to break into the Risk/Control world from operations, take that lateral and be patient.

They haven’t been doing raises for laterals for over a year last I heard, with a lateral being considered the pay ranges being within 10% or less for the the roles.

Lateral usually does not get you a raise unless you are a high top performer and low on the pay range.

Gee it's almost like these made all of these changes to eliminate pay transparency or something
