Fun topic, sat in on a Tableau and T webinar. The Tableau presenter was on top of his game, using animation and users as leaves on a tree and collect and use data from the sun, high marks on creativity, BS on substance. Oh yea, it’s integration with Salesforce is awesome, and democratizing data access for all.

When the T presenter came to to discuss how Tableau greatly benefited the company, she said that consolidated reporting onto a single platform, not exactly your hard sell. Keep spending the big money on big data, I need to switch career and jump in the band wagon.

Funny thing is the clown execs kicked Yann LeCun away and then when the ML hype came tried they best to hire some subpar"machine learning experts".

It's not storytelling, it's a Big Data Insight (TM).

They're, like, totally different.

People want reliable internet, good customer service, and competitive price.

Huge shocker, but let's spend a few more millions on big data for "consumer insights".

It’s a company that sells pipes in 2 flavors mobile and fiber. Customers pick by optimizing cost of pipe with speed. There is no AI magick needed just stop pi…ng off customers

AT&T doesn't know how to use AI and Big Data to beat the competition. That's why they always come in at the bottom.

Today it is AIM/ML, tomorrow it will be something else ... do I hear Metaverse peaking from behind the curtains! Although founders of modern AI (Geoffrey Hinton, Yan LeCun, etc.) keep on raising alerts against the hype, corporate BA/MBA's leaders need some "vision" to promote. They are called leaders, they must lead, and leading means projecting a vision (not self-sacrifice and execution). Maybe McKinsey's and Accenture bear a lot of responsibility for selling/promising things they don't fully understand. But they are in the business of selling whatever sells. Our leaders need to be smart customers. If you stand at a crossroads looking dreamy and confused like a blue-eyed blonde (with apologies to real blue-eyed blondes), then you are inviting snake-oil peddlers. Warren Buffet does not use consultants. he rolls up his sleeves (even at age 91) and works hard at work. AI/ML/Big Data are tools, not a golden goose. But what is a leader to do who does not have enough real work, needs stories to tell at co-----l parties, and wow the board with incredible dreams.

Everyone here parrots the AI/ML mantra like it's some manna form heaven , it's certainly is not, and these guys are chasing the long tail of subscribers with their fancy AI models , all the while spending tens of millions, when all you need to do is have proper compelling promotions in the retail/business side. Pricing services properly trumps any AI model when it comes to churn.

No this is a vanity project that Donovan started. They could not make a business case so it turned into looking for change in the couch aka cost savings. AI is not going to fix customer service problems. Time to shut it down and invest in training
