Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Any recent disclosures

on whether or not we’re going to still be employed by T this time next year or is there something in the works to say otherwise? The old adage is, “no news is good news,” so let’s see for how long! It’s just extremely annoying that it has to be a big secret until it isn’t!

A Voluntary Termination Package, (VTP) is highly unlikely with craft since T is hiring technicians, not laying them off.
If you want to stay onboard, T will utilize your skillset. If you want to leave, it'll be your call. T seems to be OK with allowing too many technicians to be on the payroll even though the work isn't there! Just take the paycheck and be happy! It's not a goid time to retire anyway!

No one is safe!

This statement couldn’t be further from the truth! The fact of the matter is Stanley being as clueless as he has been is being kept in the dark and not being made aware of the constant hiring occurring in various sectors of the business. The work is not yet there and business is still hiring. We’re over-staffed as it is with idle hands, yet management sees it contractually obligated to hire more. So, don’t tell us, “no one is safe!” Perhaps, by the end of 2023 there just might, maybe, quite possibly be a reduction, but even then, I doubt it!

SSIM will most likely be hiring to help cover the shrinking workload.

If T truly has too many employees, let's see if management does this scale down task the right way. Traditionally, it cuts where cuts are needed and not where they should also be. Every business unit should right size their departments without question. The problem is, T is keeping personnel in place to fulfill its future expectations and not its immediate needs.

T has way too much debt, way too many employees, way too much overhead, as compared to their peers. Time for T to get their house in order.

Did you not read the email that John sent out on 4/22. The “secret” you mentioned was revealed “We are now a $250 billion enterprise value company and we must drive to a structure and overheads that are consistent with this reality and allow us to navigate in a more agile fashion - and that means some hard trade-offs”.

I don’t know about you, but the message is clear.

Plan like you won’t be here. A lot of employees will be looking for other employment.
