Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

If you work in the branch are you trying to get out?

Service managers will be laid off and/or demoted and Wells is getting rid of those positions.
Bankers are the new tellers. Sorry customers, we have a line of people needing to cash their checks so we can’t sit at our desks to open your new account. You can do all that yourself online though right?
Branch managers are only needed to run the stores now. How’s this gonna work for those specific branch managers who like to take 3 hour lunch breaks? Asking for a friend.

One week when I was fed up doing everything and not getting lunch breaks I started logging when my manager left and when he came back and in one week he was only at the branch: 27 hours. But go on Wells Fargo and punish the ones who actually do the work in the branches. In the end, the customers lose too but we all see you don’t even care about them.

I agree. Get rid of the lazy entitled branch managers!!!! The service managers do all the work. Granted, there are a few BMs who work hard doing all aspects of the branch, but very few!! My old BM was a POS! He always took hours to run errands, go get lunch and never worked a Saturday when it was his turn to rotate with the SM. He would let the hardest working bankers work their butts off with no lunch breaks while his favorite bankers played in their office doing Pokémon go or fa---d around on their personal laptops!!! Every time a customer would walk in those lazy bankers would pick up the phone to pretend to be busy. There was no accountability except for the bankers doing all the work while the BM left for hours on end. Fu** you Wells. I don’t miss you.

Correct branch managers need an adjustment ASAP. Don’t get me wrong some branch mgrs hustle(20-40%) but most don’t put in more then 30-35hrs a week. Before I left retail my BM always had an excuse of why he/she had to leave at 2pm everyday yet as a banker I was opening and closing with hr lunches everyday. One of the main reasons I left was because of the BM and how they took advantage of their position. The BM had no idea how to do anything, I always had to help them with doing their job and all they really did was read off a page for the huddle and work the PTO schedule in their favor…If mgmt really looked down on the roles and saw the truth they’d see that branch mgrs aren’t required, give the responsibility to the premier banker to handle large value issues while a svc Mgr can focus on mgmt of the teller line and service issues. Sorry had to say it but BMs are useless, best part is I know my old BM reads these posts. So Hi 👋 you suck.

The Service Manager being forced into a Banker stinks. I value everything the SvM does for my branch. Customer response to the down sizing will show in the service scores. Upper management has no clue how to truly run a branch and support a valued team.

Premier banker here - nope not looking to change. Make about 110k in a rural area, don’t need to take any walk ins or really worry about anyone other than my clients. It’s a pretty sweet gig.

Only question is: anyone have any thoughts/insight on the future of this job? A ton of investment is going into the job family right now but I wonder in about 5 years if it’ll still be the same.

In my area it was decided that if a branch has 6 or more employees, not counting management, then Service Managers would get to keep their jobs, for those branches who have less than 6 employees the service managers will have the option to be a banker if they choose. I am a service manager and I am thinking its time for a career change. With the constant layoffs, not hiring or replacing employees, and the push of digital for ALL banking transactions I am not sure what the future looks like for this company and I don't want to go down with it. It sucks because I love everyone I work with and I have an awesome BM who does not abuse the system, our PTO rocks, our healthcare is good, 401k is good, pay is decent - could be better obviously so yeah... Hard decision but I don't want to be a banker lol.

Haha you mean “that” branch manager who would go get their dry cleaning, take an hour, then come back and say oh I need lunch, and leave again for 2 hours? Meanwhile, the bankers working their a*es off haven’t even gotten a dam break and would be a miracle to get lunch. That one? Yea. But wait there’s more! The DMs and area presidents LOVE those branch managers, so sounds like the rest of us is out of luck. Smdh
