Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

I feel sorry for those who returned to the office even for one day

There's no need for it. Look around you. At least half of your coworkers are staying home. If we're staying home, there's no reason for you not to do the same thing. For the past month, I've been reading about everybody's experiences at the office and I kept thanking God that I'm able to avoid it. In actuality, everybody can still avoid it. Why subject yourself to that if you don't have to?

Doing twice a week to be with me myself and I. I will admit it breaks up the monotonous grind but not interested in doing more than that for a 2.5 hour round trip.

How can their "list" be anywhere near accurate when so many people are being told to go to multiple locations?

Even if I did RTO, I can only badge in to one office at a time. I'll be a "non-swiper" at the other offices to which I'm assigned but never go to.

Why is WF assigning employees to offices further away? That’s pretty cr---y. It’s almost as if…they want us to quit.

@1pwf+1ggze03s, this is @1jyb+1ggze03s. No, I’ve had no one laid off or dealt with in any way over RTO. That’s what I’m saying - By my experience, I think most managers are hearing nothing about what’ll be expected of us. I do have one person reassigned to an office much further away but who’s been going to their previous office. It’ll be interesting to see how that’s dealt with because plenty of people are going in, just going to alternate offices.

Right because they’re too busy gearing up for the rounds of layoff’s coming this year first. But then they may look at those RTO reports and decide to just go ahead and fire everyone not following that policy too. Who knows.

@2fva+1ggze03s I think you are being overly optimistic.

The problem is that going full hard a-s will tank morale / production even more than it already is. So sure, you CAN go scorched Earth, but recognize that you're torching your business, in many cases with no possible benefits. People assigned to a place with no peers/reports/manager at their site, especially. Complete waste of time, talent, effort, morale etc. It also completely undermines respect for leadership when they adopt a stupid one size fits all policy that makes no sense in many situations, and they just keep doubling down on it as if that will make it make sense.

Woopty F’in’ Do about these lists! So what? Haven’t we all understood that the list is very high level and is only for those not coming in at all? There’s no context like we will fire them. It sounds like a conversation is about to happen that will go like this: You are on a report saying you haven’t come in. Yes, I haven’t and it’s bc of ______ but dont we have a grace period? Yes. Ok cool.

THE END

The lists coming is true. It is all coming with consequence model escalations. I don’t know what the escalations look like. There’s more than one level because the reports now have two levels on them already.

Obviously I don’t know pretty much anyone on the reports so this is only a guess but I think it’s separated by who hasn’t showed up at all and who hasn’t showed up for the “right” number of days. No idea what the penalties for each are but I do know that consequence models aren’t usually very pleasant.

If you really don’t want to go in I hope you’re really close to accepting an offer for remote work somewhere else, ready to go back in or not interested in a steady paycheck. Good luck to all.

The lists have not gone out yet with instructions. That was the latest from the c-suite. They are very frustrated with the RTO numbers, but they aren't ready to lay down the hammer just yet. I think they'll talk about coaching, etc. The next step would be a little more aggressive. You'd think they could come up with some carrots instead of all the sticks.

@1jyb+1ggze03s - if you have any subordinates laid off, did you receive a report for discipline, or did HR just tell you these people have to go? I don't think it's in your hands. You will receive a notice that your employee no longer works for WF, and that their badge has been deactivated. You will be required to collect any outstanding equipment (laptop, etc.).

Charlies just doing what the Big Man asks. Cities that are poorly run dumpster fires like SF and NY are pushing the RTO. They want you to buy their $35 dollar lunches, ride they rip of metro, and be abused and shaken down by dr-g addicts and homeless in their fine sh1t ho-e cities. Pass

Sure you can stay home. But if you want to keep your job you should adhere to their RTO plan you whiney babies. You can always quit and find a remote job. But do go on about the RTO because it’s a great way for them to reduce headcount Smh

@knp & @dss, I find your claims questionable. I’m a manager and I’ve received zero info or guidance on enforcing RTO. Sure, I suppose I could be told to bring down the hammer if my folks don’t meet the minimum as you state. But I won’t be able to address the “Why?” with any kind of business rationale or cite adverse impact to job performance. Quite the opposite- we’re all in different locations so there’s no benefit to our team and folks are less available due to commutes. But I will be able to answer “But why??” with, “Because Charlie said so!”

@knp+1ggze03s - I’d prefer a direct call from a member of the OC!

And I am not going in when there have been three or more COVID cases reported in my building. I don't care they have happened on different floors than where I work; it has been reported on five different floors. So, there actually have been five or more COVID cases reported if they would report the truth.

They can't force me to go in!

if you don't want to come into the office you can use your PTO those days and when you run out take unpaid leave or be fired. it's listed out on the RTO site somewhere

@dss, ...asked to take PTO, go on leave, or leave.

That doesn't even make sense. Why would you be asked to take PTO or go on leave?

intials high level reports are being shared with management now with more granular coming in the next few weeks. if you're 1 day or less per week you'll be asked to take PTO, go on leave, or leave.

Well, CPG will be distributing badge reports to OC members for those that have only been in 1 or less days per week. So expect a call from your manager in the next couple weeks

Don't you think this subject has been done to de@th yet? Nobody wants it, nobody likes it and there's nothing anyone can do about it. Stay home or leave. Pretty simple really.
